Australia is 2021 ICC T20 Cricket World Cup Champion

So finally the much hyped T20 ICC World Cup Cricket came to an end at Dubai. The finalists, the Kiwis and the Kangaroos, both almost neighbours were facing each other to clinch the coveted trophy tonight. 

Batting first, the Kiwis or the Black Caps gave a target of 173 to the Australians which the Kangaroos achieved in 18.5 overs and won the final match by eight wickets with seven balls remaining .

In the dressing room, the celebrations were at it peaks. Even they did not spare their shoes to drink drinks in the winning shoes. The deserved to be happy. Well played Kiwis, congratulations Kangaroos.

Heatwave Set to Break Australia's 80 year Old Temperature Record

While the snow is falling more than what it did last year in the West, Australia braces itself for the worst heatwave that ever struck it in last 80 years.

As per meteorological estimates, the mercury in Adelaide could reach 45C - close to its 46.1C 80-year-old heat record In Tasmania emergency warnings were issued for six areas as almost 50 fires continued to burn across the state.

Severe weather warnings are also in place for extreme temperatures and high fire danger in Victoria and Tasmania on Friday, while in Western Australia a cyclone could develop off the north coast on Thursday.

Australia's heatwave MELTING roads

This Australian summer, though it is winter all over, is falling heavy not on the humans but the roads as well as the rising temperatures are causing melting of the roads. It seems as if sun has descended on Australia's east coast.

It has been reported that a 10km stretch of the Hume Highway has melted under extreme heat in Victoria. A total fire ban has already been issued for Victoria on Saturday.

Melbourne is expected to reach tops of 41C as the east coast melts in a heatwave, while Sydney will also swelter in hot and dry condition with tops of 38C in the city.

Australian cricket team bus stoned in India

The leveling of T20 series between hosts India and touring Australian team ended in the victory of the guests 1-1 cost dearly to the Australians at the hands of frustrated Indians.

The bus of Australian team was pelted on its way to the hotel from the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Luckily no player was hurt.

Australian opener Aaron Finch tweeted a picture of a broken glass window of the bus. To the good luck of the players, no one was sitting at the window, when the rock hit the glass panel. “Pretty scary having a rock thrown through the team bus window on the way back to the hotel!!” he wrote on Twitter.

The lunar eclipse will commence at 8:50 PM (Pakistan Standard Time - PST) on 7 August and will terminate by 1:51 AM (PST) on 8 August.

However, partial eclipse will begin at 10:23 pm and end at 12:18 pm.

Djokovic to contest his 5th Grand Slam Final after defeating Federer

In a dramatic semi final of the on going Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the new year 2016, world number one Serbian Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer of Switzerland in the semi final to qualify for the Australian Open final.

After two easy wins of 6-1, 6-2 over Federer, Djokovic got a return jolt when Federer temporarily came back to the game and won the third set 6-3.  However, not losing his nerves, the Serbian won over Federer in the fourth set, sailing into his consecutive 5th Grand Slam final.

It remains to be seen who out of Britain's Andy Murray and 13th seed Raonic take position in front of the charged world number one in the final on Sunday at the Melbourne Park.

Snowfall in summers in Australia

Would you beat that - snowfall right in the middle of the Australian summer?

Well if you do not believe, see the photo above of Queensland, Australia where weather was predicted to be sunshine. But then the temperatures dropped - below zero and came the snowfall.

According to Australia's Bureau of Meteorology, the whole shemozzle is due to a low pressure system that moved a cold air mass in off the New South Wales coast.

Australian goes on trial in China on drug-smuggling

An Australian has gone on trial in southern China for allegedly smuggling out 30 Kg of crystal methamphetamine out of the country.

The 25 years Peter Gardner can be executed if found guilty. The accused have reportedly told the court that 'he did not check his luggage.'

In a live online broadcast of the court proceedings on Thursday, Mr Gardner was heard testifying off-screen that he had made "a really big mistake" and brought "a big shame" to his family.

It may be added that China has strict drug laws - anyone found carrying more than 50gm of meth faces a potential death penalty.

Australia knocks out India from ICC World Cup race

So finally India crumbled today after an unbeaten spree in a bid to retain the ICC World Cup they had won last time. Australians proved too good for Dhoni XI and won the second semi final of the on going ICC World Cup tournament by 95 runs.

Smith's 105 helped Australia to a total of 328 for seven, the highest in a World Cup semi-final. Australia will now play their final on the Melbourne Cricket Ground against New Zealand on Sunday.

India now head home with a heavy heart and also bringing an end to some ridiculously planned campaign against Pakistan which had been on the air with a new sarcastic attack against Pakistan before and after each match.

Australia mocks Pakistan in the quarterfinals of ICC World Cup cricket

Despite tall claims and speculations of a win for Pakistan over Australia in today's quarter final at Adelaide, Australia, the home team mocked the green shirts and chased the target with almost 100 runs remaining.

Batting first, Pakistan was all out for 213 in 49.5 overs with no batsman scoring an impressive winning score. Misbah and Afridi, the already announced goodbyes from one dayers left the crease without impressing their fans and may forever lament their irresponsible performance in their good-bye match.

Coming to bat, Australia despite losing four wickets were fairly luck for a number of catches lost, specially the two critical and important one of Wahab, chased the target much too easily with almost 100 runs to spare.

Pakistani bodybuilder wins title at Arnold Classic Body Building Competition - Australia

Pakistan's bodybuilder Atif Anwar has won a title at the Arnold Classic body building competition held on March 15, 2015 at Melbourne, Australia. 

Anwar won the ‘over 100 kg class’ title at the event named after Hollywood legend and seven times Mr Olympia, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

It may be added that Anwar is a former Mr Pakistan and first ever Pakistani to compete in the Mr Universe competition, where he secured the fourth position.

England loses their last World Cup warm-up match against Pakistan

Pakistan's Misbah scored 91 to clinch the match from England

The warm up matches for the forthcoming ICC World Cup have drawn a great deal of interest both by teams and the fans to make predictions for the actual tournament.

But England seems to be disappointed by their performance as they lost their last warm up match against Pakistan by four wickets today at Sydney, Australia.

England batting first were 250-8 at the end of the 50-overs with Alex Hales (31) and Gary Ballance (57). Pakistan's Leg-spinner Yasir Shah was the pick of Pakistan's bowlers with 3-45 from 10 overs. 

When it came to Pakistan, their captain Misbah played a wonderful innings of 91 runs (not out). He was supported by Akmal (65) and they made up the total 252 for 6 in 48.5 overs.

It may be added that Pakistan has won both of its warm up matches and feel confident to go into the World Cup they won once in 1992 under Imran Khan.

Australia braces for heatwave while Europe wears snow cloak

The location of countries sometimes make interesting comparisons. For instance at this time of the year when most of the Europe and Americas are covered in snow, Australia is bracing itself for a heatwave.

As bper met alerts, Australia is to be swept away by a heatwave while already emergency crews battling raging bush-fires in the west. As per reports, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and parts of New South Wales and Victoria will see temperatures near or above 40C (104F).

Forecasters said that Marble Bar, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, will not see temperatures fall below 43C over the next week, and warned of a high of 48C on Wednesday.

Four meter long 'surfing' crcodile leaves Asutrailan beach closed

Surfing crocodile forces beach closure in Australia

A salt-water crocodile up to four metres long found 'surfing' on Broome’s Cable Beach, in Western Australia - a popular Australian beach on the weekend forced the authorities to close the beach for the public, reports Mail Online.

By Sunday morning, the crocodile had moved on. Parks and Wildlife senior operation officer Dave Woods said he believed it was the same crocodile that had been spotted in a number of locations in the area around December.

It may be added that the sighting follows the disappearance of a 12-year-old boy last month, who was taken by a salt-water crocodile while swimming with friends in the Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory.

Australia at the point in time is in the grip of severe heatwave and rising temperatures may prompt fire alerts in many areas of South-east where temperatures have crossed 40C (104F). In order to avoid the heatwave, more and more people are hitting the beaches to feel the sea breeze and dip into the water.

In Victoria, lightning strikes sparked more than 250 fires on Tuesday night, fire authorities said. A fire ban has been issued across the state.

Already the players at Australian Open tennis tournament at Melbourne are seen drenched in sweat and seen uneasy playing in soaring temperatures despite the matches being planned in late night hours. It is reported that a tennis player and a ball boy collapsed in the heat. One of the tennis players Ivan Dodig retired from his second-round match as high temperatures continue to be a major issue at the Australian Open. He said: 'I feared I might die in Melbourne heat.'

It has been learnt that a heat policy has been issued that there would be no matches of the Australian Open before 6:00 PM.

In the meanwhile, fire fighters have been able to contain most of the fires in the state, although a number of fires remain out of control.

Huge Oil Reserves found in Australia may badly effect Saudi and Iranian Oil Exports in coming days

The discovery of 233 billion barrels of unconventional oil under an area spread over 16 million acres, located near the remote town of Coober Pedy, Australia, may trigger an energy war in coming days. The total reserves of Saudi Arabia stand at 263 billion barrels.

Coober Pedy is located in a nearly, uninhabitable region of Southern Australia where temperatures can reach 118 degrees, which forces many of the town's 1,695 residents are forced to live in underground caves. 

This has been disclosed by Dr. Kent Moors, an energy advisor to 20 world governments and consultant to OPEC, the IEA, EIA, and National Intelligence Community in an exclusive interview with Money Morning TV.

"This single, energy discovery could deliver an economic and geopolitical deathblow to Iran and Saudi Arabia, and that's exactly what the US government wants." he stated.

The find is equivalent of 12% of the world's entire reserves.

This revelation has also been backed up by South Australia's mining minister, Tom Koutsantonis who said, "what we're seeing up there is a very, very big deposit. They think they can extract vast reserves of oil out of South Australia which would have a value of about $20 trillion."

Sydney welcomes 2013 with its traditional fireworks

While it is yet to be new year in the rest of the world, it has already dawned in New Zealand and Australia.

The Sydney harbour was the traditional venue of the fireworks which was watched by som e1.6 million people - a gathering larger than the usual gatherings in Paris, London, Berlin and New York, said the City of Sydney.

Seconds before midnight Kylie Minogue pushed the button to launch a countdown and a remix of her song On a Night Like This blared out.

Minogue, who was the creative ambassador for Sydney's New Year's Eve, had designed a firework in the shape of a musical note.

At the end of the show Mr Foti released canon after canon, the bangs following at such short intervals that the colours washed together.

The Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, issued a new year message heavy on policy detail. She mentioned the economy, health and aged care, climate change, the United Nations Security Council, North Korean missiles, global terrorism and Afghanistan.

Australia launches world's fastest radio telescope to study the origins of the universe

Australia has launched world's fastest radio telescope in the remote Australian outback, which will exponentially increase astronomers' ability to survey the universe, mapping black holes and shedding new light on the origins of galaxies.

The Australia Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (Askap), with an array of 36 antennas each 40 feet across, started peering into the universe on Friday from a far-flung cattle station in Western Australia state.

The A$152 million (£96m) telescope will "listen" to radio waves from the cosmos that might give astronomers insights into the beginnings of the universe.

Using new "radio cameras" called phased array feeds, the telescope will be able scan the sky much more rapidly than existing radio telescopes and will give the telescope a field of view about 150 times the area of the full Moon.

Great Barrier Reef coral reduced to half in 27 years

Australia's Great Barrier Reef has lost more than half its coral cover in the past 27 years due to storms, poisonous starfish and bleaching linked to climate change, a study found on Tuesday.

The research by scientists from the Australian Institute of Marine Sciences (AIMS) and the University of Wollongong warned that coral cover on the heritage-listed reef - the world's largest - could halve again by 2022 if trends continued.

Intense tropical cyclones were responsible for much of the damage, accounting for 48%, with outbreaks of the coral-feeding crown-of-thorns starfish linked to 42%.

Australia military faces years of abuse inquiries

Australia's military faces years of inquiries into allegations of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, following an initial review by a legal firm.

The lawyers looked into more than 1,000 claims of mistreatment made by military staff going back 50 years, and found 775 "plausible allegations of abuse".

The lawyers recommended a compensation scheme, an apology to victims and a royal commission investigation.

The review was set up following a sex scandal at a military academy in 2011. In that incident, two cadets from the Australian Defence Force Academy were accused of secretly filming a female cadet having sex and broadcasting it on the internet.
