Daft Punk fetch most Grammy Awards

Draft Punk was seen dominating the 56th annual Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday. 

‘Get Lucky’ won record of the year and the electronic duo of the France, “Random Access Memories” has astonishingly won album of the year at the awards show. The song features Nile Rodgers and Pharrell Williams. 

Daft Punk who wore helmet in public, won four successive awards. Pharrell Williams and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have also gained 4 awards for their startling performances. 

In addition, Daft Punk also picked up awards for best dance in an electronica album for “Random Access Memories,” and also won the pop duo in group performance for ‘Get Lucky’, which ultimately earned Williams a trophy. On the other hand, Williams had already 7 nods, but competed with himself and took home 4 awards.

As for the female singers, Lorde's popular hit “Royals” won the record of the year, and was awarded as the best pop solo performance of the year. Lorde commented by saying, “Thank you everyone who has let this song explode, because it’s been mental.”

Fans' outrage at soaring Rolling Stones ticket prices

Rolling Stones fans reacted with fury on Wednesday at the steep cost of tickets for the British band's 50th anniversary shows, while prices soared to thousands of pounds on re-sale websites.

After months of rumours, the Stones announced on Monday that they would play two nights at London's 02 Arena on November 25 and 29, followed by gigs at New Jersey's Newark Prudential Center, just outside New York, on December 13 and 15.

But hundreds of fans have taken to the Internet to complain about the ticket prices, with a seat for the London shows costing £406 ($650, 500 euros) on the official ticket website.

Former Fleetwood Mac member Bob Welch found dead

Former Fleetwood Mac band member Bob Welch has been found dead after apparently committing suicide with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was 66.

Police say Welch was found dead by his wife after shooting himself in the chest at their Nashville home at around 12.15pm local time today.

The Californian musician had had health issues recently, according to police spokesman Don Aaron, who confirmed that Welch left a suicide note.

Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Elton John to play for the Royalty

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee will be marked with a star-studded concert in front of Buckingham Palace later.

Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Sir Elton John are among the artists, and Madness will perform on the roof.

The audience will comprise of people who got tickets in a public ballot and those from charities with royal links.

At the end of the show, the Queen will light one of the last of around 4,500 beacons across the globe - in celebration of her 60-year reign.

In the afternoon, prior to the Jubilee concert, 10,000 ballot winners and VIPs will enjoy a picnic in the gardens of Buckingham Palace created by celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal and royal chef Mark Flanagan.

Sweden wins Eurovision contest

SWeden's Loreen has triumphed for Sweden at the 57th Eurovision Song Contest, with her club track Euphoria.

The former Swedish Idol contestant led from early on in the voting at Baku, challenged only by Russia's Buranovo Grannies, Serbia and hosts Azerbaijan.

British entry Engelbert Humperdinck, who opened the contest with his ballad Love Will Set You Free, finished second from last - despite high hopes.

The 76-year-old said he "did the best for my country".

"I've had many highs in my career and Eurovision has been a wonderful experience," he said.

Bee Gee Robin Gibb wakes from coma

Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has woken from a coma after more than a week and begun to show signs of recovery.

Spokesman Doug Wright said he was able to nod and communicate with his family who have held a constant vigil at his beside in a central London hospital.

The 62-year-old fell into a coma after contracting pneumonia in his battle against colon and liver cancer.

Gibb's wife Dwina has revealed he cried when she played him Roy Orbison's 1962 song Crying.

Bee Gee Robin Gibb is in a coma after suffering from pneumonia, his official website says.

He has been recovering from cancer in recent months, but was too ill to attend a performance of his new work a few days ago. "We are all hoping and praying that he will pull through," his website said.

In February, Gibb, 62, said he had been making a "spectacular" recovery from cancer but he was later readmitted to hospital for intestinal surgery.

The message on his homepage added: "Because of this situation, Robin's website is temporarily unavailable. Sorry for any inconvenience."

Legendary Rock Guitar Ronnie Montrose dies at 64

Rock guitarist Ronnie Montrose, who formed the band that bore his name and performed with some of rock's heavy hitters, has died at 64.

In addition to forming his own band in 1973, Montrose performed with a number of rockers, including Sammy Hagar, Herbie Hancock, Van Morrison, Boz Scaggs and the Edgar Winter Group. Douglas says Montrose was working on releasing a DVD and starting a tour that would have taken him across the U.S.

Grammys 2012: Adele Bags Six Grammys while Whitney is remembered by all

British soul singer Adele took six Grammy pop music awards on Sunday, narrowly beating out the Foo Fighters, who won five awards. The Grammys also paid tribute to pop idol Whitney Houston, who was found dead earlier in the day.

Housten's famous song "I'll always love you" will be long remembered for her melodious voice and entertaining her fans. 

The superstar singer and actress's publicist, Kristin Foster, broke the news of Houston's passing to the AP, but thus far, no cause of death has been revealed. In recent years, she struggled with drug abuse.

Her self-titled debut album, released in 1985, sold 25 million copies worldwide. In total, she released seven albums and three film soundtracks; a winner of six Grammys, Houston sold over 200 million albums and singles worldwide. She earned 30 Billboard Awards, 22 American Music Awards and two Emmy Awards.

Argentinian Tango Music Artists Spellbound Audience in Pakistan

Tango music is traditionally performed by six people, but Tuesday night belonged to a guitar trio at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA). The event was organized by the embassy of the Argentine Republic in collaboration with the PNCA in Islamabad, which spellbound a large number of music aficionados including diplomats, Tuesday evening.

The trio, comprising Gorosito, Cataldi and de la Vega, has performed all over the world and had flown in from Bangkok. As students of the genre, they seem to have mastered the art of stringing together live Spanish music.

Argentinean ambassador Rodolfo Martin Saravia said that the show was an attempt to introduce traditional Argentinean music to culture enthusiasts of the twin cities, bringing entertainment opportunities with the performance of world renowned-international guitarists and build cultural bridges between Argentina and Pakistan.

U2 tops again in concert and music-sales revenue

U2 - the Irish band tops Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga for concert and music-sales revenues.

U2 amassed $160.8 million for 2011, well ahead of runner-up Taylor Swift, whose combined earnings came to $126.8 million. Lady Gaga was the only other act to top $100 million, posting $109.4 million to place third. Country music road warrior Kenny Chesney landed in fourth place with $98.5 million. 

The year's blockbuster album and singles sales champ, Adele, pulled in at fifth place with $92.8 million, a figure that certainly would have been higher if vocal cord problems hadn't forced her to cancel big chunks of her 2011 tour itinerary.

First Ever Live Streaming Concert on Twitter [ Starring Tiësto ] - Stay Tuned

HP and Intel will be hosting the first-ever live stream of a concert on Twitter next week at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. The headliner: electronic music master Tiësto.

The concert will kick off the launch of a new 10-episode series on YouTube called “In the Booth” — a behind-the-scenes look at Tiësto’s life and his impact on the electronic dance movement. The private event at the nightclub XS at Encore in Las Vegas will stream live from HP and Intel’s newly enhanced Twitter brand pages.

"Barefoot Diva" dies at 70

"Barefoot Diva" singer Cesaria Evora, famous for often performing without shoes, dies in her native Cape Verde at the age of 70.

The musican, forced to retire earlier this year due to ill-health, began her career singing in the bars of Mindelo in the West African island nation. Evora won a Grammy Award in 2004 for her album Voz D'Amor.

She released 10 albums in all. But her fourth album, Miss Perfumado, was her breakthrough hit in 1992. It sold more than 300,000 copies worldwide, and resulted in a number of tours.

The Longest Album Stream Ever

NPR has an interview up today about Brooklyn band Bear In Heaven's gimmicky but ingenious promotional concept for their April album I Love You, It's Cool. Most bands stream upcoming albums before release dates -- Bear In Heaven is streaming a single hearing of their album slowed down to last the four months between now and its release. 

The streaming album is 400,000 percent longer than the album itself, and at any given point, sounds like "a single, drawn-out note." In an earlier press release, the band called it a "comment on the current state of album promotion, hype cycles, countdowns and all the marketing ploys that we accept as a reality of existing within an internet age."

Amy Winehouse's Lioness tops UK album chart

Amy Winehouse's posthumous album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, has topped the UK album chart. The record, which features 12 original tracks and covers, was compiled by long-time musical partners Salaam Remi and Mark Ronson.

Proceeds from the album will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

It may be added that Amy was found dead in her London flat on 23 July, reportedly as a result of drinking too much alcohol.
