Floyd Mayweather wins the bout of the century

Do you know how much is $400 millions? Well if you do not know ask Floyd Mayweather who won the most lucrative fight in history, beating Manny Pacquiao via a wide unanimous decision in Las Vegas today.

Mayweather was awarded the fight 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112 by the three judges.

The five-weight world champion is now undefeated in 48 professional fights, stretching back 19 years. 

Meanwhile his opponent and six-weight world champion Pacquiao, who falls to 57 wins, six losses and two draws, later blamed a shoulder injury for his defeat.

No official role for Muhammad Ali in opening ceremony - but he desires to meet the Queen

Muhammad Ali, the greatset and the Black Superman, will attend Friday's London Olympics opening ceremonies but will not be officially involved.

Ali, who bagged the Olympic Gold in 1960 at Rome Olympics, is presently in London for philanthropic functions to benefit the Ali Center, including the new Generation Ali Beyond Sport Award, as told by his wife Lonnie Ali to USA Today Sports.

Ali who is due to fly back the the States, however, desires to meet the Queen before he flies off the Michigan. Lonnie Ali said. "We've driven past her gate several times. He probably won't get that opportunity.''

Garcia stuns Amir Khan in Las Vegas

The much talked about bout between American Garcia and the British Khan ended in a rout Sunday as Garcia stunned Amir Khan with his might and knocked out the Brit in the fourth round.

Amir Khan did play well in the first round, but then he was floored thrice in the next three rounds as American Garcia exploited the Englishman's naive tactics to keep his WBC light-welterweight title and snatch his opponent's WBA belt.

It was Khan's second straight defeat following his loss to Lamont Peterson and the third in his career, having also tasted defeat at the hands of Breidis Prescott.

Carl Froch believes Amir Khan should consider retirement after being stopped in the fourth round by Danny Garcia in Las Vegas.

British Boxer Amir Khan to be engaged on 29 January with a Pakistani-American

British Pakistani boxing star Amir Khan has announced to get engaged with the American Pakistani student Faryal Makhdoom on 29th January.

According to The Sun newspaper, the second generation Pakistanis will be swapping the rings in front of 1,000 people at a lavish £150,000 engagement party at Bolton Wanderers’ Reebok Stadium where rich footballers such as Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Ricky Hatton, David Haye are just some of people on the guest list.

WBA orders Khan rematch with Peterson

The World Boxing Association (WBA) vice-president, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, has confirmed that the WBA has granted Amir Khan a rematch against Lamont Peterson.

Khan lost his WBA and IBF titles in a split-decision defeat in Peterson's home town on 10 December. The Englishman has vociferously complained about a number of issues, however, and has lobbied both governing bodies and the Washington DC commission to change the result to a no-contest and/or force the two men to fight again.

Female Boxers' Dilemma: Boxing in Skirts

How would you like to watch female boxers fighting in the ring wearing skirts?

This is the hottest debated topic these days, as some members of the International Amateur Boxing Assn. — the governing body for the sport — are urging the boxers to don skirts instead of the baggy shorts they've been wearing.

Boxing in Skirts or shorts?

"This is absurd," complained Patricia Manuel, a former national champion from Long Beach and an Olympic hopeful at 132 pounds. "To put fighters in skirts to label them as women is incredibly outdated. It seems to me sexist."

Although boxers from Poland and Romania donned skirts at the European Championships in October, few fighters appear to favor the change.

Former WBA and IBA Light Welterweight Champ Khan in Pakistan

Former WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion Amir Khan arrived in Islamabad on Monday on the invitation of the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) to attend the Benazir International Boxing Championship, taking place in Islamabad from December 22-29 with 16 teams participating.

Speaking to the media at the airport, Khan said he was glad to see Pakistan boxing progressing. “Pakistan has a lot of talent and it can get better if proper attention is given to the sport in the country,” he said.

Khan also said he will be visiting his ancestral village in Rawalpindi with his family.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. gets 90 Prison Days In Vegas Case

Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a perfect 42-0 in the ring and has dodged significant jail time several times in domestic violence cases in Las Vegas and Michigan.

But his courtroom streak came to an end Wednesday when a Las Vegas judge sentenced him to 90 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a reduced battery domestic violence charge and no contest to two harassment charges.


The case stemmed from a hair-pulling, punching and arm-twisting argument with his ex-girlfriend Josie Harris while two of their children watched in September 2010.

Khan and Peterson to meet again on March 31, 2012

Brit/Pak boxer Amir Khan a.k.a King Khan will be set in ring with Peterson, the current IBF and WBF title holder on March31st 2012 in a rematch.

Amir Khan lost to Peterson last weekend losing both his titles on a split decision by the judges. Amir Khan was of the view the referee(Cooper) was not being fair, ultimately deducting two points for pushing without warning. According to Khan he was ultimately playing with two people in the ring, Peterson and the referee. Amir Khan after the match readily demanded for the rematch.

Khan's Hall of Fame trainer, Freddie Roach, didn't hold back in his criticism of Cooper, who declined to talk after the fight.

"(Cooper) did a terrible job. A referee shouldn't decide fights," Roach said. "He's not a judge. He made himself a judge tonight. He missed a knockdown. The first knockdown (ruled a slip) was clearer than the second one. And then he took two points away for nothing and didn't give warnings. This is like amateur refereeing. A referee at this level of competition shouldn't make those mistakes. He decided the fight, not the judges. The referee took it out of the judges' hands."

Britain's Amir Khan's dreams of boxing superstardom are in tatters after he lost his WBA and IBF light-welterweight titles to Lamont Peterson on a split points decision.

Khan had Peterson down in the first round, but failed to capitalise on that stirring start and was eventually drawn into a brawl in which Peterson hit him easily and often. Khan failed to use his speed to get himself out of the line of fire as Peterson put him under relentless pressure.

Fears for Muhammad Ali 'taken to hospital after falling unconscious'

Muhammad Ali, the Black Superman, is feared to have been taken to hospital after falling unconscious, just days after his frail appearance at a funeral for Joe Frazier on November 14.

The 69-year-old has suffered from Parkinson’s disease for 27 years and was taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center, according to reports from Star magazine and RadarOnline. It has not been revealed what Ali was treated for or how long he spent at the hospital – but he has now recovered.

Joe Frazier dies of Cancer

Joe Frazier, the former world heavyweight boxing champion dies of cancer. He was 67. Frazier was diagnosed of liver cancer in September.

"Smokin' Joe" as he was generally known rose to the boxing headlines the world over when he beat the then famous unbeaten world heavy weight champion Muhammad Ali in Madison Square Garden on March 8, 1971 (highlights of fight video below).

Over their prime time, Muhammad Ali and Frazier had almost become synonymous to each other and their bouts were treat to watch. Muhammad Ali on his death said:

"The world has lost a great champion. I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration. My sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones."
