Senior Indian military officer court marshalled for leaking plans to ISI

It has been reported by the India Today that Indian Army's movement plans were leaked to Pakistan's premier intelligence agency ISI last year. 

Reprtedly, the ISI was aware of the details of talks between Army chief General Bikram Singh and then defence minister AK Antony.

As per the reports, General Singh and Antony had discussed the troop movement on February 15, 2014 at 11 am and lasted for an hour. The meeting took place in Antony's room. The Indian Army was planning the movement on Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir border.





The meeting took place at 12 noon but within a few hours, Pakistan Army was reported to be redeploying its troops as a countermeasure. It was then revealed that a senior Indian military officer in Indian Army headquarters had supplied the information. 


The officer was later court marshalled.

Pakistan ISI chief in US to hold talks with CIA head


Pakistan's ISI chief Lt Gen Zaheer-ul-Islam on Wednesday arrived in Washington on his maiden visit to the US as the apy agency head to hold crucial talks with his CIA counterpart Gen (rtd) David Petraeus.
Islam is scheduled to hold his first official meeting with Petraeus.
Islam is expected to raise the issue of opposition of continued drone strikes by the US in the tribal areas of the country, and the recent increasing incidents of alleged crossing over of terrorist based in Afghanistan.

Pakistan's ISI chief to visit US from August 1 to 3

Pakistan's ISI chief Lt Gen Zahir-ul-Islam will visit Washington from August 1 to 3 to hold talks with his CIA counterpart David Petraeus, the first meeting between the spy chiefs amidst persisting tensions between the two countries.

On his maiden visit to the US after his appointment as the ISI chief, Islam is expected to raise the issue of continued drone strikes by the US in Pakistan's tribal areas and the recent incidents of cross border raids by militants based in Afghanistan. 

Islam is also expected to drive down to the Capitol Hill to meet top Congressmen, in particular those members of the intelligence and foreign affairs committees. 

He is expected to "strongly articulate" the viewpoint of ISI to the US lawmakers, who of late have been strongly critical of the spy agency's role in the war against terror.

Zaheer assumes DG ISI charge

Lieutenant General Zaheer-ul-Islam has assumed the charge of DG ISI, according to a private TV channel.

Zaheer has replaced Shuja Pasha who retired from his responsibilities as DG ISI on Sunday after completion of his term. 

Zaheeer was serving as corps commander Karachi before assuming DG ISI charge.

Pakistan Appoints New ISI Chief

Pakistan's prime minister has appointed a new head of intelligence to replace the retiring chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) spy agency.

Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam replaces Ahmad Shuja Pasha, who has been at the ISI's helm since 2008 and is set to retire.

He takes up the post after a tumultuous year in which the agency has been accused by the US of backing militants across the border in Afghanistan.

Lt Gen Pasha's term as head of the ISI was overshadowed by a single event - the killing of al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden by US special forces in the north-western Pakistani garrison town of Abbottabad last May.
