Ice Cream Sandwich Likely to be Released at 10 AM (March 13th)

According to a tweet today from SK Telecom spotted by The Verge, the latest version of Android will be released for Galaxy S2 starting from the Korean Giant’s territory via South Korea Telecom tomorrow at 10 Am local time.

Official Android OS v4 Ice Cream Sandwich For Galaxy S2 Being Released 15th March

Reports are coming in from the official Israel’s Samsung Facebook page regarding the official Ice Cream Sandwich OS coming to Galaxy S2, starting from March 15th the carrier and unlocked versions of handsets will get the new Android OS in Israel.

No Ice Cream Sandwich for Samsung's Galaxy S and first Galaxy Tab

Samsung on Friday confirmed that yes, the original Galaxy S phone and Galaxy Tab tablet won't receive upgrades to the latest version of Google's Android operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich.

The disappointing news seemed to be coming after Samsung announced which of its Android devices would get the Ice Cream Sandwich update on Tuesday, while leaving the popular Galaxy S and first-generation Galaxy Tab off the list.

As per Samsung, the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab won't be upgraded because the two devices lack the necessary hardware, namely not having enough RAM and ROM, to power Ice Cream Sandwich after Samsung puts its TouchWiz user interface changes over the top of the software.

Samsung has officially released the list of its smartphones getting the latest Android OS v4 Ice Cream Sandwich along with their release dates. 

According to Samsung Electronics press release, Galaxy Tab 10.1/8.9/7.7/7.0+ , Galaxy R, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S 2 and Galaxy S 2 LTE will get the official support for Android’s new OS Ice Cream Sandwich. Yes the Galaxy S 1 will not be getting the official update by Samsung, probably because it doesn’t have a dual-core processor like the other devices.

With the release of Samsung's Galaxy Nexus, laced with latest Android "Ice Cream sandwich" OS, there is now a strong competitor to Apple's iPhone 4S in the market. Analysts have straightaway gone into comparing the two sets and have found that Galaxy Nexus beats iOS 5 in Browser Speed Tests, a basic necessity for almost all the users.

Sony Ericsson has announced Tuesday that its entire Android enabled Xperia handsets will get an updgrade to the new version of Android OS  ”Ice Cream Sandwich.”

It may be added that Google announced Android “Ice Cream Sandwich” last month in October along with Galaxy Nexus, the first smartphone that was announced to have the new Android OS. At the moment no timing of availability of the upgrade is known.
