Explosives found outside General Musharraf's house

It has been reported that Five packets of explosives were found today near former Pakistani military ruler General Pervez Musharraf's farmhouse here, days after explosives were discovered on the road he was to take to a court. 

According to the police, explosives were recovered from the green belt on Park Road near Chak Shahzad farmhouse, Islamabad. 

Each packet contained around 400-500 grams of explosive material. 

The Bomb Disposal Squad arrived at the scene and diffused the bomb which was found in a briefcase. General Musharraf is slated to appear before the Special Court on January 1. 

It may be added that on December 24, explosives were recovered from 70-year-old Musharraf's route to a special court.

Pervez Musharraf Judicially Remanded till May 4

Pakistan's ex president Pervez Musharraf has been sent on judicial remand till 4th May by an Anti Terrorism Court Saturday.

The judge was due to rule on whether Musharraf could remain remanded in police custody or would have to be transferred to jail ahead of his next appearance, which is expected to take place in the next few days.

After the hearing, the security personnel escorted Pervez Musharraf outside the court from where he left for the Police Headquarters again under foolproof security.

Earlier, Pakistan’s former army chief and president Pervez Musharraf reached the court in Islamabad after spending his fist night in the police custody at the Islamabad Police Lines Headquarters today morning.

Breaking News: Pakistani police arrest Pervez Musharraf

It has been reported that Pakistan's ex president Pervez Musharraf has been arrested by police and produced before a magistrate.

On Thursday a court ordered his arrest over an attempt to impose house arrest on judges in March 2007.

The district court judge ordered General Musharraf to be held under house arrest for two days, the BBC's Orla Guerin in Islamabad reports.

It may be added that Musharraf returned from years of self-imposed exile last month hoping to lead his All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) party into the general election next month. However, he has been declared unfit to contest elections - bringing an end to any hopes of his participating in Pakistan's politics.
