Was Gandhi gay? Correspondence between Gandhi and friend fuel speculation about nature of relationship

Letters between Indian leader Gandhi and his bodybuilding friend have fueled speculation about their true relationship, which may be shocking for countless admirers of otherwise legendary Indian leader Gandhi.

They detail his close friendship with a South African bodybuilder, Hermann Kallenbach, with some suggesting the pair may have had a physical relationship, reports Mail Online.

One, handwritten to Kallenbach, is addressed to ‘My dear Lower House’ and signed ‘Sinly yours, Upper House’.

Kallenbach, a German-born Jewish architect, lived with Gandhi in Johannesburg for about two years from 1907 – a year after Gandhi took a public vow of celibacy.The relationship between Gandhi and the wealthy South African was chronicled in a book two years ago by Joseph Lelyveld, former editor of the New York Times.

Washington House Passes Gay Marriage Bill

To the dismay of many who want a natural relationship between man and woman, Washington state lawmakers voted to approve gay marriage Wednesday, setting the stage for the state to become the seventh in the nation to allow same-sex couples to wed.

The action comes a day after a federal appeals court declared California's ban on gay marriage unconstitutional, saying it was a violation of the civil rights of gay and lesbian couples.

Washington governor backs gay marriages

Washington governor Chris Gregoire announced her support for gay marriage legislation on Wednesday, potentially putting the state on track to become the nation's seventh to fully recognize same-sex unions.

Democrat Gregoire, in the final year of her second term, is backing legislation to be introduced before the Washington state legislature, which reconvenes next week.

"It is time in Washington state for marriage equality," said Gregoire at a media conference in the state capital of Olympia. "It is time, it's the right thing to do."

Are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver reconciling?

According to TMZ, Schwarzenegger was photographed wearing his wedding band over the holidays. The photos come amid reports that Shriver is reconsidering the split for religious reasons.

Late last month, People magazine reported that the former couple spent Christmas together with their children at their Brentwood home.

Shriver filed for divorce in July 2011, nearly two months after revelations surfaced that Schwarzenegger had fathered a child with former household staffer Mildred Baena.

Father video taped his children for 25 Christmases to preserve their growing up

Children are prized possession of their parents. Each parent has its own way of preserving the loving memories of their children growing up.

But not like father of Nick Confalone - who for 25 years filmed his two siblings coming down from the stairs every Christmas. Nick has recently edited all videos of the past 25 years and converted these into a sort of fast forward of 25 years just in 2 minutes and 43 seconds.

I wish I had a camera too when my children were young and had made videos each year as the grew - if you have, start making videos of your children. May be one day one of your children compiles a shoot-out like the one above.

Aisam ul Haq 'Qureshi' weds in Lahore

Aisam ul Haq 'Qureshi' , the famous Pakistan tennis star, who made headlines in 2010 for playing the US Open Men's Doubles Final with his Indian partner Rohan Bopanna, gets married in Lahore in a colourful wedding ceremony, Saturday night.

Qureshi was seen beaming in a white sherwani artfully ornamented, weded Faha Makhdoom. The two had made headlines when they got engaged in July earlier this year. Faha Makhdoom, a British citizen, wore a red dress with golden encrustations. She had recently acquired a masters degree in psychotherapy from the University of Greenwich, UK, reports The Express Tribune.

The wedding took place in the Lahore Garrison CLub. The wedding was also attended, besides many other,  by Qureshi's previous tennis partner Rohan Bopanna, who had specially flown in from India.

It may be added that Faha’s father, Dr Muhammad Akmal Makhdum is the son of renowned educationist of Pakistan, professor Muhammad Ajmal, former secretary education, principal of Government College Lahore and vice chancellor Punjab University.

Pregnant at 13, Mother at 14... Killed at 17

A sorry tale of early teen relation that ends in tragedy.

Kelsey Shaw was 12 and Callum Willcocks 14 when they started going out together. Within two years they had a child. Their daughter Caitlin was born in 2008 when Kelsey was 14 and Willcocks 16.

But their relationship got into a quagmire of drug abuse, binge drinking and allegations of infidelity. And by the time Kelsey was 17 she was dead – strangled by Willcocks in an  alcohol-fuelled row over claims of  sleeping around.

A Chester Crown Court jailed Willcocks Monday 12 Dec for a minimum of 16 years after being convicted of murder.
