Stampede in London's Westfield Shopping Centre

Reportedly shoppers fled the London's Westfield Shopping Centre after a fire alarm sounded. Terrified shoppers took to social media claiming people were 'running like crazy' as they were evacuated.

The resultant panic caused huge rushing out of the shoppers, causing injuries to a person due to the stampede of running terrified shoppers. It is suspected that the evacuation sparked fears of a bomb, gun or knife attack from Twitter users.

Later the fire department found a small fire that was nothing compared to the panic and chaos it created.

Makkah stampede - over 300 worshippers lose life

In yet another tragic incident, over 300 worshipers are said to have lost their lives in stampede at Mina, Makkah today. Another over four hundred worshippers are injured as reported by Saudi civil defence directorate.

The stampede occurred at Mina's street number 204, reports a newspaper. The incident took place near Maktib Number 93 where mostly Algerian pilgrims are staying.

Mina is a valley about five kilometres from the holy city of Makkah. The valley houses more than 160,000 tents where pilgrims spend the night during the pilgrimage. Mina is where pilgrims carry out a symbolic stoning of the devil by throwing pebbles against three stone walls.

It may be added that some 111 worshippers lost their lives and nearly 400 wounded during a crane accident at Makkah's Grand Mosque Islam's holiest site just a few days back.

Rationing of stamps by British mail ahead of 30% raise results into stampede

Royal Mail’s decision to ration postage stamps ahead of steep price increases led to panic buying and growing anger yesterday.

Small businesses will be hit particularly hard by the increases, with the price of first-class stamps going up from 46p to 60p from April 30 – a rise of 30 per cent.

The price of second-class stamps will rise even more steeply – by 39 per cent, from 36p to 50p. The increases are the biggest since 1975.
