Renault to set up Duster SUV production plant in Pakistan

A news report reveals that the famous French automobile manufacturer is all set to set up its production unit in Pakistan.

As reported a MOU has been signed by the French automaker with UAE’s Majid Al Futtaim, an Emirati shopping mall company to set up a factory in Pakistan to produce Renault vehicles.

Renault intends producing 50,000 Duster SUV vehicles a year. The Duster SUV is likely to take over the Pakistani car manufacturing market which is at present controlled by Toyota and Mitsubishi.

Saudi Arabia along with three Arab Countries Sever Diplomatic Ties with Qatar

The Middle East gets a severe blow today as Saudi Arabia sever its diplomatic relations with an important Arab and Islamic country of Middle East. Egypt, UAE and Bahrain have also followed the suit.

Saudi Arabia has ejected the Qatari diplomat and all land, air and sea traffic routes have been cut off too while accusing Qatar for backing terror and threatening regional stability.

And if that was not all - Qatar has also been also expelled from the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen.

The severing of ties is being seen by analysts as region’s most serious diplomatic crisis in years.

UAE Stops buying Petroleum Naphtha from Pakistan

In a recent development, UAE has stopped buying Petroleum Naphtha from Pakistan - a step which is being viewed by many as a new trend in the emerging relations of the Gulf State with India.

It may be added that Pakistan was a big exporter of Petroleum Naphtha fro many years and this step by UAE has badly damaged the Petroleum Naphtha production in Pakistan and its export.

The reason for this big decision by UAE may cast dark shadows on the relations between Pakistan and UAE - while it will boost UAE trade with India after signing of a $80 billion trade pact.

It may be added that Petroleum naphtha is an intermediate hydrocarbon liquid stream derived from the refining of crude oil.

Pakistan does not abandon friends: Says Nawaz Sharif

Pakistan has been caught in a situation where abandoning friends and strategic partners vis-a-vis participating in another war while its troops are already trying to rid the country of militants. 

The Pakistani stand on Yemen has however created some uneasiness in the Arab countries, which even resulted in a strong statement by a minister from UAE saying Pakistan will have to pay a heavy price for not siding with Arabs and having a soft corner for Iran.

In order to clear the dust, Pakistan's prime minister Nawaz Sharif today urged a peaceful solution to the Yemen crisis through dialogue with warring factions and reiterated the importance of the Saudi Kingdom as a ‘strategic ally’.

It may be addeed that Pakistan's Parliament on Friday passed a resolution backing the government's commitment to protect Saudi Arabia's territory from Houthi rebels, but declined Riyadh's request for Pakistani troops, ships and warplanes inside Yemen.

UAE sending air ambulance for militants shot girl activist

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) plans to send a specialized aircraft to serve as an ambulance for a 14-year-old Pakistani girl shot by the militants in case doctors decide to send her abroad for treatment.

The shooting of Malala Yousufzai along with two classmates while they were on their way home from school on October 9 horrified people in Pakistan and internationally.

She was shot for promoting girl's education and criticizing the militants.

The attack left Yousufzai seriously wounded and sparked calls for the Pakistani government to step up its fight against the militant group.

Visas are being finalized for the air ambulance crew and six doctors who will accompany the flight, Islamabad's Ambassador to the UAE, Jamil Ahmed Khan, told Pakistan's Geo TV on Sunday.

UAE businesses suffer from sanctions against Iran

The West’s crackdown on trade and financial transactions is being most keenly felt among the Iranian traders that call the UAE home, with hundreds of legitimate companies that trade with Iran being forced to shut down and, in some cases, IRGC companies being driven further underground.

Authorities in the UAE have shut down dozens of companies illegally trading with Iran. The United States has also singled out specific Dubai-based banks, recently forcing Noor Islamic Bank to cease channelling billions of dollars from Iranian oil sales through its accounts. Despite these measures, some IRGC companies have simply found new ways to circumvent sanctions.

“Business has never been better,” said the finance manager of one Iranian company, controlled by the IRGC, with a satellite office in the Dubai World Trade Centre.

A surprise at Dubai Air Show stunned everyone - display of an armed drone developed by a UAE based firm Ascom Systems, Thursday.

"MALE"

The drone called MALE (Medium Altitude Long Endurance) or simply United 40, has a  wingspan of 17.5 metres, and resorted to have a maximum payload of 400 kilogrammes, and carries 300 litres of fuel, of which 260 litres are in the wings. And its special feature: It can carry eight 60-kilometre (37-miles) range "Nemrod" missiles in its fuselage.
