US insulted at UNSC with a 14-1 Vote against it on Jerusalem

It was a bad day for US today when an Egyptian sponsored move to pressure US to take back its decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and shifting of its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Except for the US, which ultimately vetoed the resolution, all other 14 members denounced US for its unilateral decision on status of Jerusalem despite clear UN stance on its future through a dialogue between Israel and Palestine.

However, the US representative at the UN Security Council was unmoved by the rebuke and in fact called it at an insult to the US for telling it where it should site its embassy.

Massive blizzard hits US East Coast - keeps New Yorkers shut behind doors

Life in the eastern Us has almost come to a standstill as  a massive blizzard hits its East Coast. This affected lives of some 85 million.

The snow accompanying the blizzard has in Berkeley County, West Virginia is reported up to 40 inches thick.

So far 18 deaths have been reported as 11 states have declared emergency. In New York, all non-essential travel has been banned as the city braces for its worst ever snowstorm.

Iran: US older sanctions lifted and fresh Imposed

Soon after the US lifted sanctions on Iran's nuclear programme, it imposed fresh sanctions on Iranian companies and individuals over a recent ballistic missile test.

BBC reports that the new sanctions prevent 11 entities and individuals linked to the missile programme from using the US banking system.

"Iran's ballistic missile programme poses a significant threat to regional and global security, and it will continue to be subject to international sanctions," said Adam J Szubin, US acting under-secretary for terrorism and financial intelligence.

Iran's Nuclear sanctions lifted as Iran agree on dramatic prisoner swap with USA

After a meaningful dialogue in Vienna, Iran has been able to have the nuclear sanctions lifted imposed on it. 

The lifting of nuclear sanctions came as Tehran announced the release of five Americans including Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian as part of a prisoner swap with the United States.

Tens of billions of dollars worth of Iranian assets will now be unfrozen and global companies that have been barred from doing business there will be able to exploit a market hungry for everything from automobiles to airplane parts.

Night curfew imposed on US troops in Japan after rape arrests

The commander of U.S. Forces Japan imposed a night curfew on military personnel on Oct. 19 after two U.S. servicemen were arrested on suspicion of raping a Japanese woman on the southern island of Okinawa.

The arrests come at a time when public opinion in Okinawa is at odds with Tokyo for allowing the U.S. deployment of Osprey hybrid aircraft on the island despite lingering concerns about their safety.

Friction over U.S. bases on Okinawa intensified after the 1995 rape of a 12-year-old Japanese schoolgirl by three U.S. servicemen. The case sparked widespread protests by Okinawans, who had long resented the American presence due to crime, noise and deadly accidents.
