Rafael Nadal wins US Open 2019

Rafael Nadal is the 2019 US Open Tennis champion.

33 years old Spaniard Nadal beat the 5th seed Russian Daniil Medvedev 7-5 6-3 5-7 4-6 6-4 in the men's single final of US Open played at the Arthur Ashe court, New York.

In the fifth set when the duo were two sets each, Medvedev struggled to a comeback from 5-2 to 5-4, but then Nadal shook off his faults he has had just made to clinch the victory.

It is Nadal's 19th Grand Slam victory. Victory today moves him within one of Swiss rival Roger Federer's all-time leading tally of Grand Slam victories.

Serena Williams Loses US Open 2019 Final to Canadian Bianca Andreescu

US Open 2019 has been a great upset for top ranking players. While in men's singles race, both Federer and Djokovic lost their race to finals, Serena Williams did manage to reach finals but could not come out with a winning note.

Yes, Williams lost to Canadian Bianca Andreescu in straight sets. Bianca Andreescu won the final 6-3, 7-5 at the Arthur Ashe court.

Serena Williams thus failed for a second year in a row to claim a history-matching 24th Grand Slam title in New York to equal Margaret Court’s career tally. Last year, Williams lost a controversial match to Japanese star Naomi Osaka 6-3, 6-4.

In fact the 19 years old Canadian was too swift for aging and rather bulky American. Andreescu by wining the US Open title becomes the first Canadian, man or woman, to win a major in a singles event and has done so in the fewest number of Grand Slam appearances since Maria Sharapova won Wimbledon in 2004, according to ESPN.
