Intense heat wave grips Northern Europe

An intense heat wave has begun to grip Europe this week and Germany, France and Belgium have already started to experience extreme temperatures that are set to continue in the coming days. 

It is predicted that temperatures are expected to exceed 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) in Germany on Wednesday, topping the country's previous June record of 38.2 degrees Celsius, set in Frankfurt in 1947. 

Fire fighters have been placed on alert as Forest fires are of particular concern for authorities in Germany, especially in the northeast. 

As a precautionary measure, residents were asked to keep windows and doors closed in Lieberoser Heide — southeast of Berlin

Heatwave Set to Break Australia's 80 year Old Temperature Record

While the snow is falling more than what it did last year in the West, Australia braces itself for the worst heatwave that ever struck it in last 80 years.

As per meteorological estimates, the mercury in Adelaide could reach 45C - close to its 46.1C 80-year-old heat record In Tasmania emergency warnings were issued for six areas as almost 50 fires continued to burn across the state.

Severe weather warnings are also in place for extreme temperatures and high fire danger in Victoria and Tasmania on Friday, while in Western Australia a cyclone could develop off the north coast on Thursday.

Britain bracing for Hurricane Leslie

Hurricane Leslie with winds up to 75 mph and lashing of rain is heading to wards Britain. It is likely to batter the islands next week.

Presently Tropical Storm Leslie which with its mighty force is in the middle of the Atlantic, has been upgraded to a hurricane as it gains speed.

But before it tastes the UK coast, it is projected to strike the US tomorrow before changing course and heading for Europe on Sunday. 

However, it is too early to predict what impact this will have on the UK but say the country should brace for rain and wind.

Australia's heatwave MELTING roads

This Australian summer, though it is winter all over, is falling heavy not on the humans but the roads as well as the rising temperatures are causing melting of the roads. It seems as if sun has descended on Australia's east coast.

It has been reported that a 10km stretch of the Hume Highway has melted under extreme heat in Victoria. A total fire ban has already been issued for Victoria on Saturday.

Melbourne is expected to reach tops of 41C as the east coast melts in a heatwave, while Sydney will also swelter in hot and dry condition with tops of 38C in the city.

Lunar Eclipse on 7th-8th August

Partial lunar eclipse will be visible in Pakistan,Antarctica, Australia, Europe and Africa on 7th-8th August 2017.

The lunar eclipse will commence at 8:50 PM (Pakistan Standard Time - PST) on 7 August and will terminate by 1:51 AM (PST) on 8 August.

However, partial eclipse will begin at 10:23 pm and end at 12:18 pm.

Tourists warned of "Hot like Hell" weather in Southern Europe

The heatwave presently felt severely across souther Europe is taking a heavy toll of tourists intending to spend their holidays there. The temperatures have soared to 43 degrees Celsius and the Europe is hot like hell.

Countries most effected by this enormously hot weather include Croatia, Spain, Italy and Romania.

Already some of the Italian cities or on maximum heat alert status. Tour operators are advising tourists and even residents to stay under shade or indoors during prime sunny times.

Due to the ongoing heatwave spell, nik-named Lucifer in Italy has resulted into 15% more hospital admissions than other days of the year. Many tourists are now heading towards northern Europe or even cool England for their holidays.

Doris heading towards Britain with 70 mph winds and flooding

NASA has warned that storm Doris is heading towards Britain across the Atlantic carrying winds up to 70 mph and lots of flooding

The 800 mies wide storm may hit Britain by Friday.

The winds are likely to speed up on Thursday turning into gales up to 100 mph. A yellow warning has been sounded in Britain.

Britain braces itself for the hottest summer in 40 years

The Long Hot Summer, once a TV serial, is about to come true for the British as met officials forecast a hottest summer ahead in 40 years.

The weather will not only be hot, it will have heavy rain bringing thunder, lightning and even some hail too.

However, the hot weather may be bringing pleasant conditions, though  accompanied by thunder and lightning this afternoon. Forecasters have even predicted that hail could hit across many parts of England and Wales today. 

But all is not that hot too: The coldest place in the British isles is Lerwick on the Shetland Islands which has reached 10 C (50 F).

Massive blizzard hits US East Coast - keeps New Yorkers shut behind doors

Life in the eastern Us has almost come to a standstill as  a massive blizzard hits its East Coast. This affected lives of some 85 million.

The snow accompanying the blizzard has in Berkeley County, West Virginia is reported up to 40 inches thick.

So far 18 deaths have been reported as 11 states have declared emergency. In New York, all non-essential travel has been banned as the city braces for its worst ever snowstorm.

Weather Modification - a new form of clandestine warfare: Warns CIA

Britain braces for tons of snowfall and high speed gales this weekend

Britain is always under severe weather - whether it is summer or winters. In summers the Brits witness flash floods and heavy rains and come winter: it is high speed gales and tons of snow.

So this weekend should not be a surprise for people living in many parts of Britain if it gets almost 2 feet of snow (19 inches as predicted). Motorists, especially in northern Scotland face travel chaos this weekend with up to 19in of snow expected by Monday.

Besides, rain warnings are also in place for tomorrow as even more heavy rain threatens to cause localised flooding and winds of up to 70 mph could cause disruptions to Irish Sea and cross-Channel ferry services.

Dense sandstorm in the Middle East leaves at least eight people dead

A dense sandstorm has struck parts of Lebanon, Syria, Israel and Cyprus today. The sandstorm started gather Monday.

At least eight people have been reported killed while hundreds are suffering from respiratory problems.  People have been warned residents to stay indoors.

Refugees from Syria living in poor conditions in Lebanon were badly affected.

Snowfall in summers in Australia

Would you beat that - snowfall right in the middle of the Australian summer?

Well if you do not believe, see the photo above of Queensland, Australia where weather was predicted to be sunshine. But then the temperatures dropped - below zero and came the snowfall.

According to Australia's Bureau of Meteorology, the whole shemozzle is due to a low pressure system that moved a cold air mass in off the New South Wales coast.

Golf ball size hailstones hit Britain (Video)

After a spell of the highest temperatures, something like 37 degrees Celsius, the weather over Britain suddenly changed with hailstorm and lightning.

It has been reported that hailstones of the size of golf balls lashed the British north east with over 19,000 lightning strikes reported.

Forecasters expect rain will begin to fall in the capital and south east during this afternoon and warn the stormy conditions could last until Saturday - with a weather warning for heavy rain in place for northern England today and an alert issued for all of England and Wales tomorrow.

200 millimetre rain expected in northern Pakistan and cyclone alert for Karachi

While a cyclone is gathering up some 1,200 kilometres off Pakistan's Karachi city's coast, it is expected that heavy rainfall may hit the northern Pakistan in next 24-48 hours.

Pakistan Today reports that the cyclone, which is being build up in Middle East, is 900 miles away from Pakistan. The cyclone could approach towards the marine areas, due to which rain could be expected in next 24 hours, while 200 millimetre rain is expected in a day in parts of KPK and Kashmir.

It is also reported that excess rainfall in the Kabul River catchment area may also cause flooding along connected riverbanks.

In the meanwhile the country is being faced with a severe heat wave with 45 degrees Celsius recorded in Sukkur, Rohri, Dadu and Jacobabad and Sibbi, while other cities affected by heat wave include Sukkur, Shikarpur, Khairpur and Kandhkot.

Tornado batters northern Germany

Buetzow, near Rostock in northern Germany has been badly damaged by a tornado that was triggered by violent storms which have left at least one person dead.

Witnesses say that cars were hurled 70 m (230 ft) and roof tiles blown off buildings, including the local hospital. In the city of Hamburg, a man was killed and his pregnant girlfriend hurt when flying debris hit their car.

German media had reported wind speeds of up to 119km/h (74mph) in Geilenkirchen north of Aachen, and officials said at least 30 people across the region had been hurt by flying debris.

The storm came after a spell of unusually warm weather across northern Germany. Met officials forecast more rain, thunder and lightning on Thursday.

Britain battered by 100mph winds

Winds exceeding 100 mph have a norm rather than exception - remember my post of 2012, which is still the most read post of my blog.

It has been in the past and it is even today as winds of 100mph batter Britain while millions of travellers face disruption on Britain's roads and rail network today while others are counting the cost of damaged homes.

And a HGV was blown over the A1 as the gales swept across the Northern England - while planes have been seen landing sideways.

Dailyt Mail reports that Gales of just under 100mph were measured at Capel Curig in Snowdonia, followed by High Bradfield near Sheffield with 82mph gusts and Weybourne in Norfolk with 76mph winds. Liscombe in Somerset, Avonmouth near Bristol and Northolt in north west London were also among the worst-hit areas, experiencing winds in excess of 60mph.

Mysterious 'silent' flashes lit up Southern Russian sky

A series of mysterious silent flashes that lit up the sky in Stavropol in southern Russia have made people come up with theories and speculations. The flash was captured on a vehicle dashboard camera at around 12.39 am on Monday morning.

The strange thing about these was that these did not accompany any sound - while these made the city's street lights briefly go out.

Eyewitnesses say the strange glow caused street lights to go out - while the experts cannot explain the phenomenon but agree that it is not natural.

Freeze Niagara Falls - and it does

Owing to the on-going sub-zero temperature lately, the massive Niagara Falls has frozen.

The temperature that fell to 16 degrees Fahrenheit on Wednesday are likely to continue even on Thursday too and may let the falls frozen for another day too or may be more.

The the effects of this weekend's winter weather are still being felt by the 330,000 people without power in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Australia braces for heatwave while Europe wears snow cloak

Emergency crews battling raging bush fires in the Australia's west

The location of countries sometimes make interesting comparisons. For instance at this time of the year when most of the Europe and Americas are covered in snow, Australia is bracing itself for a heatwave.

As bper met alerts, Australia is to be swept away by a heatwave while already emergency crews battling raging bush-fires in the west. As per reports, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and parts of New South Wales and Victoria will see temperatures near or above 40C (104F).

Forecasters said that Marble Bar, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, will not see temperatures fall below 43C over the next week, and warned of a high of 48C on Wednesday.
