Serena Williams wins Australian Open and sets a Open Era record of 23 titles

Who says age matters? May be for many but not for Serena Williams when it comes to winning Grand Slam titles.

And that was exactly she did today by beat her sister Venus Williams 6-4, 6-4 to win the Australian Open title for record seven times. And if that is not all - she also become the record holder of Open era period with 23 Grand Slam titles.

However, despite all the laurels earned, Australia's Margaret Court, with 24, is the only player still ahead of Serena in terms of Grand Slam singles titles, reports BBC

Serena bags her 22nd Grand Slam title at Wimbledon

Oh boy she is simply unbeaten - at 34 years old, American Serena Williams still has the stamina and skill to beat whoever comes her way. And Wimbledon's lad singles final today was just another such event when she bagged her 22nd Grand Slam title by Angelique Kerber 7-5 6-3 in the final.

Williams struck 39 winners and 13 aces in her superb grand finale performance.

2016 title was her 7th Wimbledon title after successfully defending her last years title. There seems to be no stopping for many years it seems.

Sharapova Wins Roland Garros Women Single Final

So that was it - the Roland Garros women single final Saturday afternoon today - and what a pleasing outcome, although much expected: World No.2 Russian Maria Sharapova winning over Italian Sara Errani 6-3, 6-2 at Roland Garros Saturday evening on Court Philippe Chatrier.

The win today completes Sharapova's career Grand Slam and she becomes the became the 10th women ever to hold all four major titles.

While Sharapova made her mark in the history, there is yet another history making match Sunday, when Novak Djokovic meets defending champion Rafael Nadal. If Nadal wins, he will become the first tennis player to win Roland Garros for the seventh time. And if Djokovic wins, he becomes the 3rd man in the tennis history with four Grand Slam titles. Sharapova loses Miami final to Polish Radwanska

To her utter dismay, Russian and World Number Two Maria Sharapova failed to realize her dream of winning the Miami's women single title even in her fourth attempt Saturday night when World Number Four Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska beat her 7-5, 6-4. 

Although Sharapova was the hot favourite for the Saturday's final, with a7-1 head-to-head lead over Radwanska, but the Polish girl was more aggressive, consistent and resilient than the Russian. It seems Miami has become a dumping ground for Sharapova.

For the 23 years old Polish Radwanska, this is the second title win of 2012, having won at Dubai earlier this year.
