Kashmir Protests as India Revokes its Special Status

In complete defiance of the UN Resolution that declares the Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory, India in complete defiance of the UN resolutions has revoked the clause 370 of its constitution on 4th august 2019 and made the disputed territory as an integral part of India. 

Pakistan reacted sharply to this unilateral decision:

"The Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory. No unilateral step by the Government of India can change this disputed status, as enshrined in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions. Nor will this ever be acceptable to the people of Jammu & Kashmir and Pakistan." 

This was done after India just a couple of days ago deployed over 30,000 additional troops and imposed curfew to brutally slap any reaction from the Kashmiris.

All major Kashmiris leaders have already been placed under house arrest before tabling this notorious and sinister move. This motion comes when US President Trump had reassured Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan that he was ready to mediate the Kashmir dispute.

The Indian move has been strongly condemned by Pakistan and even OIC has reacted sharply to it. "Pakistan strongly condemns and rejects the announcements made today by the Indian Government regarding the Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir," said a Pakistan foreign office statement on Monday.

Pakistan Prime Minister meets Donald Trump: US Ready to Mediate on Kashmir

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan met US President Donald Trump on Monday during his 3-days official visit to USA. Welcoming the Pakistan's Prime Minister, the US President remarked: “It’s my great honour to have the very popular (and by the way great athlete, one of the greatest) Prime Minister of Pakistan.”

Trump touted Pakistan's role in fomenting progress in the US-Taliban talks in recent weeks and said he believes Pakistan "is going to help us out to extricate ourselves" from the war in Afghanistan.

At the White House meeting on Monday, Mr Trump also offered to mediate the Indian-Pakistani conflict in Kashmir. He said that he was making the offer after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested that he "mediate or arbitrate" the 70-year old territory dispute between the two nations.

It may be added that since Donald Trump took office in 2017, his administration has adopted a hard line against Pakistan, accusing it of supporting Islamist militants and misleading the US over the issue - charges Islamabad denies.

However, this meeting seems to have softened US stance about Pakistan.

Imposing Headlines: Pakistan shoots down two Indian Aircraft

Pakistan confirmed on Wednesday 27 February 2019 that it had carried out air strikes in Kashmir and shot down two Indian jets in its own airspace, capturing one of the pilots as the conflict with its nuclear-armed neighbour continued to escalate.

The Pakistan military said Indian jets had entered Pakistan in response and two had been shot down, with one pilot captured. The surprise move came a day after Indian jets intruded into Pakistani airspace and claimed to have attacked a militant camp.

Tensions have dramatically escalated between the nuclear-armed rivals since Indian warplanes flew into Pakistani airspace and struck what New Delhi said was a camp of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), the group that claimed the Kashmir bombing.

The Foreign Office in a statement said: “Pakistan Air Force undertook strikes across Line of Control from within Pakistani airspace. This was not a retaliation to continued Indian belligerence. Pakistan has therefore, taken strikes at non military target, avoiding human loss and collateral damage.”

India seeking an opportunity to go to war with Pakistan

The Indo-Pakistan bilateral relations have come to their lowest ebb since the Hindu extremist party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come into the power at the center. And every other day there is some bleeding statement from one BJP leader to another attributed to war mongering.

The latest such statement comes from BJP leader Subramanian Swamy who is been quoted as saying that India is waiting for an opportunity to go to war with Pakistan.

whenever Pakistan airs its staunch stance on Kashmir, a disputed territory between Pakistan and India since the partition of British India, there is a strong reaction from India.

He also reacted to the visiting Turkish president's offer to act as mediator between India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue. He said that Turkey has numerous issues to tackle in his own country and should better focus on that.

Indian Army's adventure of Surgical Strikes along Pakistan border flops

It seems that Indian Army and Indian government is hell bent to spoil peace between the two countries as its army tried to create a scene at the control line along the disputed border of Kashmir last night.

The so called surgical attacks, as claimed by Indian general as a revenge for Uri incident was completely foiled and reports say that Indian commandos ran back to their terriory. The rocket and mortar firing resulted in martyrdom of two Pakistani army soldiers.

Terming their violation and firing across the cease fire line as 'surgical strikes' speaks volumes of nativity of Indian army top brass about the very definition of surgical strikes. Even Indian politicians are doubting Indian Army claims of surgical strikes.

However, the incident has further deteriorated the relations between Pakistan and India which are witnessing a downward trend due to concocted and self-made  incidents from Indian side.

200 millimetre rain expected in northern Pakistan and cyclone alert for Karachi

While a cyclone is gathering up some 1,200 kilometres off Pakistan's Karachi city's coast, it is expected that heavy rainfall may hit the northern Pakistan in next 24-48 hours.

Pakistan Today reports that the cyclone, which is being build up in Middle East, is 900 miles away from Pakistan. The cyclone could approach towards the marine areas, due to which rain could be expected in next 24 hours, while 200 millimetre rain is expected in a day in parts of KPK and Kashmir.

It is also reported that excess rainfall in the Kabul River catchment area may also cause flooding along connected riverbanks.

In the meanwhile the country is being faced with a severe heat wave with 45 degrees Celsius recorded in Sukkur, Rohri, Dadu and Jacobabad and Sibbi, while other cities affected by heat wave include Sukkur, Shikarpur, Khairpur and Kandhkot.

India warns Kashmiris of possible nuclear attack

In rare and unprecedented move, Indian officials in the Indian controlled Kashmir have warned the Kashmiris to build bomb-proof basements, collect two weeks’ worth of food and water and be prepared for a possible nuclear war.

The notice, published on Monday by the Kashmir police in the Greater Kashmir newspaper, advised people to build toilet-equipped basements large enough to house the entire family for two weeks. If there is no basement, residents should construct bunkers in their front yards, the notice advised.

The shelters should be stocked with candles, battery-operated lights and radios and nonperishable food and water that is regularly replaced to ensure it is fresh, it said.

Local officials did not answer calls asking why they were suddenly concerned about a nuclear attack in the region, repeatedly fought over by nuclear-armed rivals India and Pakistan. However, a series of deadly skirmishes along the cease-fire line in recent weeks has heightened tensions between the two countries.

Eight soldiers and 4 others perish in Pakistan landslide

Eight Pakistani soldiers and at least four civilians have persidhed in a landslide in the mountainous Kashmir region, Friday.

A military rescue operation swung into action after heavy snows on Friday triggered two landslides at a remote outpost in the Kel area of Pakistani-administered Kashmir near the de facto border with India.

“Three bodies of soldiers were recovered yesterday. The dead bodies of five soldiers including a captain and four civilians have been recovered today (Saturday),” said a statement by the military.

India turns down Pakistan proposal to remove heavy artillery as part of 'CBM'

India has rejected Pakistan’s proposal to move heavy artillery and mortars away from the Line of Control (LoC), citing frequent ceasefire violations, Indian newspaper The Economic Times reported.

Instead, India has also asked Islamabad to come clear on its nuclear policy, including command and control over nuclear assets.

During the talks, Pakistan proposed to redeploy artillery and mortar 30 kilometres away from the LoC among other CBMs that included an agreement on the prevention of incidents at sea and the return of citizens who inadvertently cross the border.

India, Pakistan consider demilitarising LoC

Pakistan and India are considering a new proposal to remove weapons from the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed region of Kashmir, in a development that may prove crucial for a resolution of the longstanding issue.

The suggestion is part of several other proposals being discussed at the two-day talks in Islamabad between senior officials from the two sides on conventional and nuclear confidence building measures (CBMs).

The parleys, part of the peace process resumed earlier this year, opened on Monday with the nuclear-armed neighbours pushing for new measures to improve ties.
