Churches in Sri Lanka Bombed - Over 150 reported dead

A very sad day indeed in the history of Sri Lanka when a series of explosions rocked hotels and churches of Sri Lanka, jam packed with tourists. The incident happened when the Christian community was celebrating the Easter on Sunday.

Two more bomb explosions struck Colombo, the capital city hours after the country was struck by a series of six bombings on churches and hotels that killed at least 156 people and wounded about 400. 

Most of the victims were killed in three churches where worshipers were attending Easter Sunday services. 

The seventh explosions occurred at a hotel near the national zoo in the capital, killing at least two more people, police said, while an eighth blast hit the suburb of Orugodawatta in the north of Colombo.

ICC turns down India's request to Sever Ties with Pakistan as member nation

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is said to have turned down a request by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to ‘sever’ ties with member countries which harbour terrorism, saying the ICC was not the appropriate forum to take such decisions.

The letter was sent on February 22 by Rahul Johri, the BCCI chief executive officer, and marked to Shashank Manohar, the ICC chairman, along with ICC CEO David Richardson and the ECB chairman Colin Graves.

The ICC maintained that its primary duty concerned cricket and that the decision to ostracize a nation can be taken at a government-level.

It may be added that the BCCI urged the ICC and its member nations to sever ties with countries that harbor terror.following the Pulwama incident in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IOK),

Indian hand suspected in attack on Chinese Consulate

It is suspected by LEA (Law Enforcing Agencies) that the plot of the attack was prepared in India - an attempt to sabotage the CPEC land route from Pakistani port at Gwader to China.

Three BLA terrorists tried to storm into the Chinese Consulate in port city of Karachi, Pakistan yesterday but were gunned down by the LEA.

The sources have identified the mastermind of the attack as Aslam Achu, the commander of the banned terrorist group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). The group claimed the responsibility for the Friday’s attack.

As per sources, Aslam Achu was injured during a face-off with security forces in Balochistan and is currently receiving medical care in New Delhi’s Max hospital.

It may be added that BLA has publicly invited Indian forces to intervene in Balochistan.

Campus Terrorism kills Pakistani Student in Texas, USA

A 17-year-old Pakistani student Sabika Sheikh has been shot dead beside others in a campus terrorism in Texas USA.

Sabika Sheikh was on a foreign exchange programme in the United States and was about to return home next month after completion of her studies. She was among at least 10 schoolchildren killed by a gunman at the Sante Fe High School, about 50 km southeast of Houston, on Friday morning.

American universities and schools have always been unsafe as such incidents often occur in the USA. This has been the 22nd such incident in the USA this year. The terrorist has been identified as a 17 years old Dimitrios Pagourtzis who is under police custody now.

UN to probe killing of children by Afghan Military

The killing of a large number of stundets mostly aged not even their teens by the aerial bombardment of Afghan military has stirred the conscious of peace loving people around the world.

While Afghan government official handout says that they were targeting the Taliban leaders present on the occasion, the fact on ground is that a large number of children were to be presented with their certificates during the ceremony. Eye witnesses have said that the gathering included "a lot of civilians" and the families of those killed in the attack "were devastated, reports al Jazeera.

United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan has reportedly said that a human rights team on the ground will investigate the incident, claims the news agency.

Terrorism: Gunman kills 26 Church goers in USA

In an act of sheer terrorism, a gunman in Texas, USA has killed at least 26 Church goers while another 24 are being treated for gun injuries. The dead also included pastor's 14 years old daughter.

Reportedly, 26 years old ex US air force Devin Patrick Kelley, wearing black tactical gear and carrying a Ar-15 assault rifle, walked into the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs in Texas and sprayed bullets on the attendees.

Kelley who drove away after the incident was chased by a local and eventually lost control of his car during the high speed chase and was shot dead by the unnamed local.

China reacts sharply on Donald Trumps' Accusations against Pakistan

The Chinese Foreign ministry has reacted sharply on US President's Donald Trump's accusations against Pakistan for supporting terrorism.

In a televised statement, the Chinese foreign ministry representative totally rejected baseless allegations against Pakistan and said that Pakistan has done much more than any country in the world to fight terrorism and the terrorists.

The Chinese reaction comes after Donald Trump accused Pakistan for offering safe havens to terrorists establishing Afghanistan and lauded India for its peace efforts.

Terror attack perishes 61 in Quetta, Pakistan

Pakistan is the most affected country by the terrorists who are funded by countries surrounding Pakistan. Last night three terrorists managed to enter a police hostel in Quetta, Pakistan and before the security apparatus could mobilize, they had already carried out two suicide attacks killing dozens of police men.

Upon charge by the security forces, the third terrorist was also killed, leaving however 61 dead and over hundred wounded. Those who perished also included an army captain.

Security forces also got freed 250 police cadets kept hostage by the terrorists.

China and Russia did not support India on its accusation of Pakistan as Terror State at BRICS - a big disappointment for India

The recently concluded 9-member BRICS conference at Goa, India has brought nothing to India, rather it rebuffed Indian Prime Minister's effort to drag in Pakistan and ratify it as a terrorist state by Russian and Chinese leaders.

Indian Express writes:

The Prime Minister proclaimed, in his closing statement at the summit, that BRICS member-states were “agreed that those who nurture, shelter, support and sponsor such forces of violence and terror are as much a threat to us as the terrorists themselves”. The BRICS 109 paragraph summit declaration, however, doesn’t have a single sentence reflecting this purported consensus—not even the words “nurture”, “shelter” or “sponsor”.

Thus the Indian PM Modi has just been delivered an unhappy lesson at the  BRICS summit in Goa: though nine-tenths of geopolitics is about bluff, the critical one-tenth is about knowing when to fold, writes Praveen Swami of Indian Express.

Powerful suicide attack rips apart dozens in Pakistan

A powerful bomb blast ripped apart almost one hindered people in a hospital on Monday morning, 8 August 2016. The attack is said to be a suicide attack targeting mourners gathered at a hospital.

The bomber struck as a crowd of lawyers and journalists crammed into the Emergency Department of the Provincial Sandeman Hospital, known as Civil Hospital, after the fatal shooting of president of the Balochistan Bar Association (BBA) Bilal Anwar Kasi earlier in the morning, reports Express Tribune.

The sound of blast was so intense and loud that it had been heard within a radius of five kilometres. The windows of several shops in the neighbourhood were shattered by the thud. As per police, at least eight kilograms of explosive was used in the attack.

21 students perish in terror attack on university in Pakistan

It has just been over a year since the terrorist attack on a school in Peshawar, Pakistan when over 140 children and teachers were killed, these comes another attack on a University in Charsadda, KPK, Pakistan today, in which 21 students and teachers perished, as per initial reports.

It has been claimed that four militants have been killed and university premises secured.

An eyewitness rescued from the university said the university was not adequately secured, especially at the backside of the building, which had low boundary walls.

Gunmen waving ISIS flag shot dead wearing suicide vests at Egyptian Red Sea resort

Two gunmen waving black ISIS flags who entered Bella Vista Resort in the city of Hurghada, Egypt, have been gunned down before they could detonate their suicide vests.

The gunmen upon entering the resort started firing at the tourists but were intercepted by hotel security, leaving one dead and other captured after being seriously wounded.

As a result of firing, three tourists got injured, reportedly two Austrians and a Swede, who were taken to hospital, where one was treated and discharged

Four facilitators of terrorists who attacked Pakistani school hanged

Pakistan yesterday hanged four men linked to the Taliban massacre of 144 students at a school in December 2014 in Peshawar.

It may be recalled that on 16 December 2014, terrorists barged into an army run school and mercilessly killed 144 students, besides six others. The parents of victims have reacted to the hanging by saying they deserved 'no forgiveness' for their actions.

The attack was Pakistan's deadliest and shocked a country already scarred by nearly a decade of extremism.

Thirteen Taliban militants killed after they attacked Air Force base in Pakistan

Taliban militants attacked a non operational base of Pakistan Air Force in the city of Peshawar early Friday morning and sprayed bullets on a mosque where people were offering their morning prayers - sixteen men are said to have lost their lives, including three air force personnel.

Clad in police uniforms, over a dozen militants stormed the base. However, a quick response from the military Quick Reaction Force (QRF), thirteen militants were killed after a fierce gun battle. Exact number of the militants is not known. A young army captain leading the QRF is also said to have lost his life while fighting the militants head-on.

The militants were wearing explosives-laden jackets and were armed with grenades and AK-47 rifles.

It may be added that the Pakistan Army is pursuing a fierce chase of the militants in a large scale operation and has had many gains - upsetting th4e militants and the attack on the base shows their frustration.

Majority in USA support drone attacks

In a very unusual and selective survey, a majority of US citizens support armed drone attacks on militants around the world. 

The survey was carried out between May 12-18 based on telephone interviews with around 2,000 adults living in all 50 US states and the capital Washington. It has a margin of error of 2.5 per cent.

Three in 10 Americans said they were very concerned that US strikes could lead to retaliation from extremist groups and only 24 per cent said the strikes could damage America's reputation. A 29 per cent, said they were very concerned about whether the strikes were legal.

It may be added that US president Obama relies heavily on drone raids to hunt down Al Qaeda leaders and other Islamist extremists from Pakistan's tribal areas to Somalia and Yemen.

Pakistan expresses serious concern over Indian Defence Minister 'resolve' to use terrorism to counter terrorism

Pakistan has reacted sharply and expressed serious concern over the statement made by Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar that India will use terrorism to counter terrorism from other countries.

Adviser to Pakistan's prime minister on national security and foreign affairs said that the statement amply confirms Islamabad’s apprehensions about India’s involvement in terrorism in Pakistan.

It may be recalled that Indian Defence Minister had asserted that terrorists have to be neutralised only through terrorists. “India will take proactive steps to prevent a 26/11 type attack,” Press Trust of India quoted him saying.

This is not a movie but seen from an actual incident in which a would-be suicide bomber's car was blown up into the air when it encountered a road side bom near Kirkuk in northern Iraq.

Reportedly the suicide bomber was to launch an attack on Kurdish Peshmerga forces - but was blown up short of the target. The car went up almost 100 feet in air and then exploded as can be seen in the video b elow:

107 schools renamed after Peshawar school victims in Pakistan

The memory of the gory incident and the terrorist attack on an army-run school are stil fresh in the minds of every Pakistan. A day when heartless terrorists killed innocent school children hardly in their teens at point blank range. Almost 150 teachers and students lost their lives in the attack.


Now in order to immortalize those who were martyred, the provincial government of the Pakistan's northern province has renamed 107 schools after the names of the martyred students.

Tufail Khattak, whose son Sher Shah was killed in the attack, told the Express Tribune the move meant that "the martyred children will be remembered forever".

Jordan air force launches strikes on ISIS

In a tit for tat move once again since the burning down of its pilot by ISIS, Jordan has carried out air strikes against training camps and weapon storage piles of ISIS in Syria.

Reportedly dozens of Jordanian air force jets also hit strategic ISIS sites in Iraq for first time.

The attacks came after the Jordanian King Abdullah  vowed a 'harsh' revenge for the pilot being burnt alive and has already had two ISIS-linked jihadis executed for terror offences.
