David Cameron Vows to Revive the British Empire Medal (BEM)

The British Empire Medal (BEM) was once an award for the "working class gong" for doing voluntary work for the benefit of community and the people. However, the award of medal was done away with during John Majors' times, creating a classless society as critics lamented.

Now David Cameron, after his landmark proposal of reforms in the affairs of the royalty, vows to revive the medal. Cameron, who is consulting the Queen on revival of the BEM, is hopeful of his success. The British PM hopes that people who are not considered senior enough to receive an MBE or OBE will be able to receive a BEM.
