Could AT&T Face Mass Exodus of iPhone Customers?

AT&T has recently announced plans to charge for FaceTime over cellular, a service which is set to arrive next week with iOS 6.
To get this new feature, AT&T customers must subscribe to one of the company’s newly created shared data plans, which are more expensive for some customers. As an added whack to customers, this means those with the previously mentioned unlimited data plans will have to switch to gain the FaceTime feature.
The reason that AT&T has decided to charge extra for FaceTime is that the company is convinced that the feature is an add-on.

Could this extra charging mean mass exodus of iPhone customers?

Feds Withdraw Lawsuit Against AT&T Over T-Mobile

The U.S. Justice Department has asked a federal judge to postpone or withdraw its petition to stop AT&T from acquiring T-Mobile. It cited a shifting regulatory landscape that makes the AT&T/T-Mobile lawsuit unnecessary.


The request, as reported by Bloomberg on Friday, appears to be part of the strategic tit-for-tat between AT&T and the regulators who are determined to stop the merger.

AT&T Prepares Plan to Save Takeover

AT&T Inc., with its T-Mobile USA takeover facing regulatory opposition, is preparing the biggest remedy proposal yet to the Justice Department to salvage the $39 billion deal, reports Bloomberg Businessweek.
ATT’s proposal is likely to include the divestiture of a higher share of customers and lower percentage of spectrum, said the person familiar with the matter. The company needs more capacity to serve users as it adds customers and more of them adopt data-intensive smartphones.
