Mugabe mocks America's decision to legalise gay marriage by vowing to proposing to Barack Obama

While the American decision to legalize gay marriages across the country is being condemned in most of the countries, the Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe mocks America's decision to legalize gay marriage by vowing to proposing to Barack Obama.

Mugabe says 'he plans to travel to the White House to propose to US president Barack Obama' since he is so supportive of gay rights.

Mugabe, who is known for his brutal crusades against homosexuality, was responding in bizarre fashion to the Supreme Court's landmark ruling that the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees gays and lesbians the same right to marry as heterosexuals.

Obama marriage on the rocks - claims a report

Mr and Mrs Obama are generally seen supportive to each other whenever they appear in public. But a recent report claims that all is not well and a storm is brewing under the public smiles for Obamas.

A selfile keeps a frosty Mrs Obama away from the 'photo session'

The last time they were pictured together — at Nelson Mandela’s memorial — the First Lady was looking none too pleased as the her husband posed for a ‘selfie’ photograph with the leggy blonde Danish Prime Minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt.

The report even goes to the extent that the magic couple may split after Obama's presidency term comes to an end in 2016.

Even two earlier books have claimed that they duo came to split in early 2000's, , with Mrs Obama even drawing up divorce papers after deciding his burning political ambition was ruining their chances of domestic happiness.

For the moment, they are allegedly sleeping in separate bedrooms after Mr Obama’s attempt to ‘mend fences’ backfired so badly on a recent Christmas getaway to Hawaii that he returned to Washington with their two daughters, leaving his wife behind.

US Republican nominee Mitt Romney has called for "real change" against President Barack Obama's "status quo", on the final stretch of an election race that is too close to call.
Mr Romney dismissed the Democratic incumbent as a shadow of his former self, in an economic speech in the key battleground state of Iowa.
On Friday, new figures showed US gross domestic product grew by 2% in the third quarter, exceeding expectations.

Obama visits Afghanistan Tuesday to sign strategic deal

President Barack Obama slipped into Afghanistan Tuesday night on an unannounced visit on the anniversary of the killing of 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden. Obama is signing an agreement cementing a U.S. commitment to the nation after the long and unpopular war comes to an end.

The partnership spells out the US relationship with Afghanistan beyond 2014, covering security, economics and governance. The deal is limited in scope and essentially gives both sides political cover: Afghanistan gets its sovereignty and a promise it won’t be abandoned, while the U.S. gets to end its combat mission but keep a foothold in the country.

The deal does not commit the United States to any specific troop presence or spending. But it does allow the U.S. to potentially keep troops in Afghanistan after the war ends for two specific purposes: continued training of Afghan forces and targeted operations against al-Qaida.

Annual Washington Correspondents' dinner: Night of the Jokes

"What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull?"  "A pit bull is delicious."

Obama laughs as Jimmy Kimmel takes the podium
The annual Washington Correspondents' dinner is meant to be Washington's traditional night of bonhomie, when policy wonks and hacks rub shoulders with power brokers in what some have dubbed The Oscars for Ugly People.

But amid the traditional jokes unleashed by President Obama during his speech at the dinner were some of the most acidic insults he has so far directed at Mitt Romney, his presumed Republican party opponent in November's election.

Since the mid-1920s, the annual dinner has afforded the president a chance to relax and share a few jokes. But this year Mr Obama barely deviated from the re-election playbook.

He mocked Mr Romney's wealth, his elitism and even his treatment of animals in an address that showcased his comic timing and ruthlessness. "It's great to be here this evening in the vast, magnificent Hilton ballroom. Or as Mitt Romney would call it, a little fixersupper," a smiling Mr Obama said.

Secret Service agents entertained prostitutes in Obama's rooms

US President Barack Obama was scheduled to hold a series of private meetings with Latin American leaders in the same hotel rooms in Cartagena where Secret Service agents had earlier entertained prostitutes, it has emerged.

The revelation that the President's personal safety could have been directly compromised by the agents' off-duty actions - a clear breach of tight security protocols surrounding presidential visits - has added a further dimension to the biggest scandal to engulf the elite service in its 142-year history.

It is alleged that the team had taken prostitutes to their hotel rooms in the Colombian city less than 48 hours before Mr Obama was due to arrive at the Summit of the Americas.

General Martin Dempsey, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke of the military's embarrassment over the affair. "We let the boss down," he said.

The Obama Administration is considering escalating the role of U.S. Special Operations Forces in Afghanistan between now and 2014, a senior administration official confirms to CNN.

Obama's chief of staff William Daley to step down

[ via France24 ] 10 Jan

White House chief of staff William Daley will be stepping down and will be replaced by budget director Jacob Lew, US President Barack Obama announced Monday. Daley was popular with administration staff but clashed with Democrats in Congress.

Though popular with staff, Daley alienated parts of Obama's liberal-leaning base, particularly Democrats in Congress, who bristled at presidential criticism that grouped them together with the Republican opposition.

Obama Fails on His Minimum Wage Pledge

[ via Huffington Post ] 5 Jan

In 2008, then-President-elect Barack Obama made an ambitious pledge as part of his agenda to fight poverty, one he claimed would help "make work pay for all Americans" in an era of widening economic inequality: By the end of 2011, he would raise the federal minimum wage to $9.50 an hour and index it to inflation, "to make sure that full-time workers can earn a living wage," as his transition team's website put it.
In effect, Obama was pushing for a 31 percent pay raise for millions of the country's lowest earners. But when they collect their first paychecks for 2012, those workers will see no such raise.

The federal minimum wage remains $7.25 an hour, the same rate it's been since 2009, when the last of a series of wage bumps signed into law by George W. Bush was implemented. The cost of living continues to climb although the wage floor remains the same.

Obama Signs Defense Bill Despite 'Serious Reservations'

[ via Huffington Post ] 31 Dec

The last 'gift' to freemen, specially in USA was signed by the US president on 31 Dec 2011.

The indefinite military detention of Americans became the law of the land Saturday, as President Barack Obama signed a defense bill that codified that authority, even as he said he would not use it.

The signing on New Year's Eve as few people were paying attention angered civil liberties advocates, who argue that the law for the first time spells out certain measures that have not actually been tested all the way to the Supreme Court, including the possibility of detaining citizens in military custody without trial for as long as there is a war on terror.

Even the president, had reservations while signing the bill:
"I have signed this bill despite having serious reservations with certain provisions that regulate the detention, interrogation, and prosecution of suspected terrorists."

Mark Zuckerberg's private Facebook photos revealed

[ Mail Online ] 7 Dec

A series of photos from Mark Zuckerberg’s private Facebook page were made public today after a web expert managed to gain access thanks to a glitch in the social networking site. Users were able to look at the private photos by ‘reporting’ a profile picture as ‘inappropriate’, which then saw other photos displayed, such as those of Facebook CEO Mr Zuckerberg.

The bug in the website’s photo reporting tool - which Facebook says was only temporary and has now been fixed - meant that users could access others’ pictures even if they were private.

US launches 'virtual' embassy for Iran

[ Taiwan News ] 7 Dec

The Obama administration is reported to have opened a virtual embassy for Iran to encourage dialogue with the Iranian people.

The web-based "embassy" went online Tuesday with versions in English and Farsi (Persian) explaining why the administration has chosen a virtual diplomatic mission to further expand its effort to reach out to Iranians even as President Barack Obama's attempts to engage the government in Tehran over its nuclear program have yet to succeed.

Full Story: Mashable 24 Nov

Mashable reports that Obama’s profile, which just gained a “verified account” tick mark, appears to have been launched first thing Wednesday morning. Naturally, it isn't being run by the President himself, but by his reelection campaign — a fact that the profile’s posts makes no attempt to hide.
