Controversial French General Bigeard to be laid to rest two years after death


The remains of one of France's most decorated generals, Marcel Bigeard, will finally be interred on Tuesday, following bitter wrangling in the two years since his death.

The funeral in the Indochina War Memorial at Frejus, in the south of France will be attended by his daughter and France's Defence Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian.

But opinions remain divided over General Bigeard, who is accused of overseeing torture during France's war with Algeria.
Previous attempts to find him a resting place have failed because of his controversial past.

Neil Armstrong to be buried at sea

It has been decided by the family of the famed astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to have landed on the moon, to be buried at sea. It is however not known that this 'One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind' decision had anything to do with the will of the dead astronaut.


The family of the Navy fighter pilot-turned-astronaut however did not specify where exactly they intend to have that service. 


Given the fact that Armstrong made his name by being the first man to walk on the moon, the choice to be laid to rest at the depths of the ocean may seem odd, but the practice is common for veterans of the Navy.

Corpses "Fear" Eviction unless their relatives pay rent

Many would be appalled to listen to the news of eviction of corpses for non-payment of burial rent. But this is actually going to happen if relatives of some 7,000 corpses buried in the Torrero municipal graveyard, in the northern city of Zaragoza, Spain do not pay the rental payments of their burial plots.

The news report adds that the city officials have started warning relatives and caretakers of the sites that they should pay up or face eviction - by placing stickers on the sites whose leases are up (pictured as above).
