Russia to construct north-south gas pipeline in Pakistan


Recently there have been news of increased Russian interest in cooperating with Pakistan in its defence and other fields. Already there are news of Russian willingness to supply Pakistan with its advanced SU-35 warplanes.

Now Russia signs an agreement with Pakistan for the for the construction of a gas pipeline from Lahore to Karachi.

The 1,100 kilometre pipeline with a capacity of 12.4 billion cubic metre per annum will connect Karachi's liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals with those in Lahore.





The project will be undertaken by Russia's RT-Global Resources and implemented in compliance with BOOT model (Build Own Operate Transfer). The built pipeline will be owned and operated by the project company for 25 years.

The construction the North-South gas pipeline in Pakistan will reach $2 bln-2.5 bln, an official with Russian state corporation Rostec told TASS.

50th indigenously produced JF-17 Thunder Block-I rolls-out at PAC Kamra

It was great day Wednesday when the 50th indigenously produced JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft Block-I rolled-out from Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra and formally handed-over  to Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

Prime Minister of Pakistan was the guest of honour at the inauguration event. The event was attended by delegates from China as well as the PAF.

The event also marked the launch of production work for Block-ll JF-17 aircraft.




The JF-17 Thunder' is a multi role aircraft which has been co-developed and co-produced with the support of Chinese Aviation Industry, to meet PAF' requirements.

The JF-17 is being produced in blocks of 50 aircraft each where every succeeding block would be an upgraded version of the preceding block. Therefore, Block-ll JF-17s will have improved versions of avionics sub-systems, air-to-air refuelling capability, additional weapons carriage capability, optimized maintenance facilitation and some additional operational capabilities.

Turkmenistan signs first contracts with India - Pakistan on Joint Oil Pipeline

Turkmenistan on Wednesday signed agreements with India and Pakistan to deliver gas through a new pipeline that will transit Afghanistan, the first contracts in the ambitious project.

The 1,700-kilometre (1,050-mile) TAPI pipeline aims to transport more than 30 billion cubic metres of gas annually from Turkmenistan to Pakistan and India as well as relieving shortages in Afghanistan.

The sale-purchase agreements for the yet-to-be-built pipeline were signed at a ceremony on the sidelines of the annual Turkmenistan oil and gas congress in its Caspian Sea resort of Avaza, just outside the city of Turkmenbashi.
