Mass protests in Egypt over Mubarak verdicts

Hundreds of Egyptians occupied Cairo's Tahrir Square on Sunday after a night of rage against what they feel are lenient sentences given to ousted dictator Hosni Mubarak and his security chiefs.


A judge sentenced Mubarak, 84, and his interior minister Habib al-Adly to life in prison on Saturday for involvement in the killing of protesters during the uprising that ousted them from power last year.
Mubarak, the only autocrat toppled in the Arab Spring to be put in the dock, could have been sent to the gallows as demanded by the prosecution. He was also cleared of graft charges.

Prosecutor demands death by hanging to former President Mubarak

In the trial of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, (83), the prosecutor demanded the death penalty. The same punishment he asked for the co-accused of Mubarak. The former president is on trial for involvement in the deaths of demonstrators protested against his regime.Monday, the process continues.


The deposed leader on trial for his alleged involvement in orders that were given to shoot at the people during the protests in early 2011.Officially 846 killed and wounded and 6,000 wounded. The prosecutor called it mass murder and consequently demands the death penalty.
