Aisam ul Haq 'Qureshi' weds in Lahore

Aisam ul Haq 'Qureshi' , the famous Pakistan tennis star, who made headlines in 2010 for playing the US Open Men's Doubles Final with his Indian partner Rohan Bopanna, gets married in Lahore in a colourful wedding ceremony, Saturday night.

Qureshi was seen beaming in a white sherwani artfully ornamented, weded Faha Makhdoom. The two had made headlines when they got engaged in July earlier this year. Faha Makhdoom, a British citizen, wore a red dress with golden encrustations. She had recently acquired a masters degree in psychotherapy from the University of Greenwich, UK, reports The Express Tribune.

The wedding took place in the Lahore Garrison CLub. The wedding was also attended, besides many other,  by Qureshi's previous tennis partner Rohan Bopanna, who had specially flown in from India.

It may be added that Faha’s father, Dr Muhammad Akmal Makhdum is the son of renowned educationist of Pakistan, professor Muhammad Ajmal, former secretary education, principal of Government College Lahore and vice chancellor Punjab University.

Qureshi - Bopanna part ways to find new partners

Pakistan's Aisam ul Haq "Qureshi" and India's Rohan Bopanna made headlines the world over when the reached the men's doubles finals of US Open last year. Since then the duo has been in the limelight as the two players have almost become symbol of friendship between Pakistan and India with their slogan "Stop War - Start Tennis."

However, now the due has decided to part ways. Bopanna told the Indian Express newspaper on Monday that he will team up with veteran compatriot Mahesh Bhupathi in 2012, while Qureshi will next partner Dutchman Jean-Julien Roger at the Australian Open in January.

Aisam ul Haq Qureshi and Rohan Bopanna win Paris Masters Men's Double Title

It was a great day today for the famous Pakistan-India duo Aisam ul Haq Qureshi and his Indian "Tennis-Half" Rohan Bopanna today at Paris when they won the Men's Double Title of Paris Masters Sunday. They had never tasted this win before, and so did Federer, who also won the Men's Single title of the Paris Masters today.

The Indo-Pak duo, seeded seventh, took no time to dominate their opponents and win an easy win only in 65 minutes. They beat Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut of France in straight sets 6-2,6-4.

The duo won the Gerry Weber Open at Halle and the Stockholm Open before this event and have already qualified for the season finale in London, earned 1000 ranking points each and split euro 134,500 as prize money.

Aisam ul Haq Qureshi of Pakistan and Rohan Bopanna of India cruised into the men's double of Paris Masters finale Saturday. Aisam and Bopanna overcame the third-seeded pair of Maxi Mirnyi of Belarus and Canada’s Daniel Nestor 6-3, 7-6 in the semifinals to book a place in Sunday’s title clash in the French capital.

The famous Indo-Pak due who besides the game of tennis are also championing peace between Pakistan and India are stars of their own in kind not only in their respective countries but also the world over.

A title-winning triumph in the Paris Masters will give Aisam and Bopanna a perfect boost ahead of the year-ending finals in London later this month.
