Saudi Arabia along with three Arab Countries Sever Diplomatic Ties with Qatar

The Middle East gets a severe blow today as Saudi Arabia sever its diplomatic relations with an important Arab and Islamic country of Middle East. Egypt, UAE and Bahrain have also followed the suit.

Saudi Arabia has ejected the Qatari diplomat and all land, air and sea traffic routes have been cut off too while accusing Qatar for backing terror and threatening regional stability.

And if that was not all - Qatar has also been also expelled from the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen.

The severing of ties is being seen by analysts as region’s most serious diplomatic crisis in years.

Wearable Safety Bracelets for Hajjis this year

Hajj is an annual religious ritual of Muslims all over the world who come to the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia to perform this holy duty. However, due to increasing number of worshipers coming to the holy land, there are chances of one going missing or lost from his group or family in the rush of millions of people. Also last year's stampede that took a heavy toll of the worshipers made it difficult for the organizers to find and account for the missing.

In order to keep a track of each and every individual, Saudi government and its Hajj directorate has come up with a novel idea of a safety electronic bracelet which will be given to each worshiper from this year to keep them  counted and located if lost.

The weather resistant bracelet would come with personal and medical information embedded into it and a GPS to keep the track of everyone.

Makkah stampede - over 300 worshippers lose life

In yet another tragic incident, over 300 worshipers are said to have lost their lives in stampede at Mina, Makkah today. Another over four hundred worshippers are injured as reported by Saudi civil defence directorate.

The stampede occurred at Mina's street number 204, reports a newspaper. The incident took place near Maktib Number 93 where mostly Algerian pilgrims are staying.

Mina is a valley about five kilometres from the holy city of Makkah. The valley houses more than 160,000 tents where pilgrims spend the night during the pilgrimage. Mina is where pilgrims carry out a symbolic stoning of the devil by throwing pebbles against three stone walls.

It may be added that some 111 worshippers lost their lives and nearly 400 wounded during a crane accident at Makkah's Grand Mosque Islam's holiest site just a few days back.

Two Israeli F-16s shot down by Yemen

Two F-16s that have reportedly been shot down by the Yemen air defence system with Saudi markings - but such aircraft have never been supplied to Saudi Arabia by the USA.

Instead the lot from which the downed F-16s belonged was the one supplied to Israel probably one of the 50 surplus US F16 A models given to Israel during the Clinton administration.

Another view point is that these may from the lot of recently surplus ex-NATO aircraft either from Italy or Portugal.

It is also reported that one of the two F16s was shot down by an updated BUK system supplied by Russia — Yemen is well-equipped with modern Russian weaponry including MiG-29s and advanced air-defense systems, a fact that has clearly been overlooked by the Saudis and their Israeli allies.

Bayan Mahmoud Al Zahran is the the first Saudi woman lawyer who launched the female law firm in Jeddah.

Zahran told Arab News that her law firm is ready to fight for the rights of Saudi women and relate women’s cases to the court, a task which her male counterparts at times cannot understand or handle.

Huge Oil Reserves found in Australia may badly effect Saudi and Iranian Oil Exports in coming days

The discovery of 233 billion barrels of unconventional oil under an area spread over 16 million acres, located near the remote town of Coober Pedy, Australia, may trigger an energy war in coming days. The total reserves of Saudi Arabia stand at 263 billion barrels.

Coober Pedy is located in a nearly, uninhabitable region of Southern Australia where temperatures can reach 118 degrees, which forces many of the town's 1,695 residents are forced to live in underground caves.

This has been disclosed by Dr. Kent Moors, an energy advisor to 20 world governments and consultant to OPEC, the IEA, EIA, and National Intelligence Community in an exclusive interview with Money Morning TV.

"This single, energy discovery could deliver an economic and geopolitical deathblow to Iran and Saudi Arabia, and that's exactly what the US government wants." he stated.

The find is equivalent of 12% of the world's entire reserves.

This revelation has also been backed up by South Australia's mining minister, Tom Koutsantonis who said, "what we're seeing up there is a very, very big deposit. They think they can extract vast reserves of oil out of South Australia which would have a value of about $20 trillion."

Saudi Arabia emerges as top solar producer

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has emerged as one of the world’s most productive solar regions with some of the highest summer temperatures ever recorded on earth, said Jean-Claude Estival, renewable energy business manager of Schneider Electrical projects in France during his visit to Riyadh last week.

Estival delivered a speech on “Why Saudi Arabia’s huge solar potential may not be enough” at the Solar Arabia Summit held in Riyadh last week. “Solar Energy is one of the most promising contributor to solve energy peak demand, expected to be 120 GW by 2030,” Estival said.
-->
He pointed out that the Kingdom is about half the size of the European Union. The country has twice the average of solar irradiation compared to Europe. Solar energy projects are among the most promising contributors to solve the energy demand that is anticipated after 17 years. Schneider Electric sees a bigger challenge than just generating solar energy. “The Kingdom should highlight a slogan such as: Make the most of your energy,” he stressed.

Anti Islam Film: Saudi Arabia joins world wide condemnation

Saudi Arabia condemned on Thursday a film Muslims consider blasphemous to Islam while denouncing the violent anti-American protests it sparked in some Middle East countries.

Arab outrage over the virulently Islamophobic film, "Innocence of Muslims", spread to Yemen earlier in the day when hundreds of angry protesters stormed the US embassy in Sanaa.

Syria lashes out Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey

The Syrian regime has accused regional powerhouses Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey of trying to destroy the country and vowed it will defeat rebels who have captured large swathes of the commercial hub Aleppo.
Military forces in Aleppo fired tank and artillery shells at neighbourhoods as rebels tried to repel the government air and ground assault.
According to activists, rebels who launched an operation to take over Syria's largest city a week ago are estimated to control between a third and half of Aleppo's neighbourhoods.
Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem, on a visit to Iran, criticised Sunni powers in the Middle East, saying Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey are supporting a plot hatched by Israel to destroy Syria. The three countries have all been backing rebels trying to overthrow authoritarian President Bashar al-Assad.

Saudi Olympic athlete hit by judo head scarf ban: Safety or discrimination?

One day after a female Saudi Arabian judo player arrived in London – under strict instructions from national Olympic officials to compete "wearing suitable clothing" that complies with Islamic custom – the International Judo Federation banned the wearing of head scarves Thursday.

The move was made for safety reasons, said Nicolas Messner, a federation spokesman. Judo involves grabbing opponents' clothing and using choke holds, making the head scarf – or hijab – "dangerous," he added.

Messner told the Associated Press that negotiations are ongoing with the Saudi Arabian delegation to find a compromise. But neither the Saudis nor the athlete, Wojdan Ali Seraj Abdulrahim Shahrkhani, has yet made a statement about whether she will compete.
