Full Story: Sense the Car October 30, 2011
BMW is reported to be calling back some 32,000 cars on account faulty electric auxiliary water pumps. The recalled vehicles include 5-Series, 5-Series Gran Turismo, 7-Series, X5 SAV, and X6 SAV models, that have eight- or 12-cylinder turbocharged engines and manufactured between 2008-2011.
A total of 102 cases of pump failures worldwide have been reported. These auxiliary pumps cool the turbocharger in certain driving conditions, and if they fail to do so, circuit board gets overheated and may cause fire.
