UNESCO Admits Palestine as a Member State Despite US and Israel Opposition

Despite threats from USA for aid cut, and strong resistance from Israel, UNESCO admits the Palestinian State Monday (today) as one of its member states. The BBC reported that:

173 UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) countries voted at a Paris meeting, with 107 in favor and 14 opposed. There were 52 abstentions.

It may be added here that Palestine is seeking the UN membership of UN at the Security Council in Novemebr - a move most likely to be vetoed by USA for love of Israel. If USA had veto power in case of UNESCO, it would have most certainly used its option to block the Palestinian any presence in UN.
