It was a tragic scene on the Tasmanian sandbank littered with 22 dead sperm whales. In the meanwhile rescuers were racing against the clock Monday to save two huge sperm whales stranded on sand, the Parks and Wildlife Service said.
Whale beachings are relatively common in Australia, and they usually occur in the summer months around December around Tasmania.
