The Buddha International Circuit, India will host the 17th Formula 1 event of 2011 season Sunday. October 30th 2011 would thus go down in the history of Motorsport for a Grand Prix event being held for the first time in India. Buddha International Circuit was inaugurated October 18 with a Red Bull Renault Formula 1 rolling down its tracks.
The Greens Sports City, 40 kilometers outside the Indian capital, of which Buddha International Circuit is a part, is being developed at the cost of Rs. 40 billion, which is likely to generate an annual revenue of $170 million. The sports city will also house a 100,000 seat cricket stadium, an 18 hole golf course, 25,000 seat hockey stadium and a a sports academy.
Buddha International Circuit has a 5.14 kilometer long track spread over an area of 875 acres. It will have a maximum speed of 318 kmph / 198 mph.
