Pakistan signed a $166 million Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import contract of 400-500 mncf with Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC)-an American company on 7 October in Islamabad. The project will start its work by January 2012 and its completion period is one year. The import of LNG is likely to overcome energy crisis in the country and to reduce growing dependence on expensive furnace oil.
