The International Space Station (ISS) has been in space for 11 years Wednesday. Till last year on its 10th  on November 2 last year, the ISS had traveled more than 1.5billion miles - the equivalent to eight trips around the sun. As of August this year, there have been 135 launches to the space station since the first module, Zarya, arrived on November 20, 1998.

While NASA celebrates its $100 billion - 16 countries' joint venture, some rare photos have now been released which though speak of the human innovative mind, could not see light and were dumped.
