Nadal ousted from First Round of Australian Open 2016

Nothing could have been as bad for once world number 1 rafael Nadal when he lost his first round match of Australian Open today. Many have started doubting Nadal's future tennis career already.

Now down to world number 5 due to his successive failures, Nadal found is hard to win his first round match against fellow Spanish left-hander Fernando Verdasco in a well fought five-set match, which Verdasco finally won 7-6 (8/6), 4-6, 3-6, 7-6 (7/4), 6-2. The match lasted four hours and 41 minutes.

It was the first time Nadal had lost in the opening round of a major tournament since his shock loss to Steve Darcis at Wimbledon in 2013.

Oh boy is she really good? Yes sure she is - the aging 33 years old Americana and world number 1 Serena Williams has yet a lot of youth left in her and she proved it by winning her 19th Grand Slam and 6th Australian Open title today.

Contrary to many beliefs that world no.2 Maria Sharapova would finally overcome Serena whocm she has only once beaten in 2004. And siince then, whenever they met, it was elder Serena lifting the winning trophy. It was Sharapova's 16th straight defeat against Serena.

Serena beat Sharapova 6-3 7-6 (7-5) and continued with the magic, the spell of which charms Sharapova so much that she crumbles and loses. Although today she put up a winning like resistance, Serena proved too good for her and won the trophy.

Sometimes commentators behave in a manner that they cause an outrage by their words, sp[specially when interviewing celebrities. The same thing happened at the ongoing Australian Open when Channel 7 tennis commentator asked Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard to ‘twirl.’

Watch the video below

The 20-year-old was stunned as she was asked by commentator Ian Cohen during her post-match interview: ‘Can you give us a twirl?’ It may be added that Bouchard had just won an impressive 6-0, 6-3 match against Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands in just 54 minutes at Melbourne Park.

'I don't know, an old guy asking you to twirl. It was funny,' Bouchard commented after the incident which has been labelled 'sexist.'

However, Channel 7 has not owned Cohen and said that he works for Tennis Australia and not for Channel 7 - despite the fact that Cohen was holding Channel 7 mike.
