Man in Afghan army uniform kills NATO soldier

A man wearing the uniform of the Afghan army has shot dead a NATO service member on Friday in the east of the county. The death brings to 20 the number of NATO soldiers killed by Afghan colleagues in at least 15 separate attacks so far this year.

The NATO statement provided no details about Friday’s attack and did not give the nationality of the service member killed. NATO usually waits for member nations to provide details about troop deaths.

'End of the Rope' - Karzai tells the U.S. over Kandahar massacre

The Afghan president Hamid Karzai accused the United States of failing to fully cooperate with an investigation into the massacre of 16 Afghan villagers by a U.S. soldier and questioned whether more than one soldier could have been involved.

"This has been going on for too long. You have heard me before. It is by all means the end of the rope here," Karzai told reporters at the heavily fortified presidential palace.

Dover Air Base dumped 274 US troop remains at landfill

Incinerated partial remains of at least 274 troops were reportedly dumped at landfill between 2004-08 by the largest military mortuary in the US, BBC reports quoting the Washington Post. The Washington Post report is based on data from Dover Air Force Base, the main entry port for US war dead.

Another 1,762 remains - which did not undergo DNA testing because they were too badly damaged - were disposed of in the same manner, according to the newspaper.

Families, who had agreed for the remains to be disposed of respectfully, were unaware of the practice.
