My friends the winds from the north will freeze Britain tonight

You may have heard Demis Rousseau's My friends the wind will come from the north. But that was just a song - now here come the true winds from the north that may plunge the temperatures to -10C tonight for Britons.

Meteorologists warn of widespread frost and snowfall on its way with temperatures plummeting in London by this evening - even lower than the -8C forecast in Lapland and OC in St Petersburg.

However, for the relief of most Britons, the -10C temperature is an exceptional figure and is likely only over packed snow in the mountains. It will be less cold in the glens and further south in England and Wales

Gales and Rains battered Britain warned of rare June Storm

January earlier this year, Britain faced gales up to 106 mph. Now it seems a repetition of the same has already set in with alarms for a bigger storm in June.

Daily Mail reports Thursday that large areas of the UK have been put on alert for heavy rain and gales of up to 70mph today as a rare June storm swept in from the Atlantic.

Downpours at Edgbaston in Birmingham have already delayed the start of the third Test between England and West Indies this morning.

The Met office has issued an amber weather warning for Wales, South West England, East of England, London and the South East, the West Midlands and the East Midlands Thursday.
