The recent statement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu that China attaches great importance to Pakistan’s request for a seat on the UN Security Council worries India. The UN General Assembly meets Friday to elect five non-permanent members of the Security Council for 2012-2013. The new members will replace Lebanon, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brazil, Gabon and Nigeria, whose terms end on December 31. Pakistan is also a contender for the seats being vacated.
