We have been living with the incandescent lamps for very long. But then recently there heave been halogen bulbs and fluorescent bulbs called the Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs). The poor old incandescent bulbs are virtually on the exit, but surviving so far due to their very low prices despite being energy least efficient. The introduction of rather costly CFLs have provided energy saving anything between 67 to 80% than the incandescent bulbs. Now efforts are at hand to make halogen bulbs more energy efficient.
