When Queen Elizabeth II was to witness the Wimbledon tennis match in her first visit to the All England Club in 33 years. the players were given a choice: Bow or not to bow upon Queen's arrival on the centre court. The same dilemma was faced by the the Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard. The advice given to Ms Gillard was "very clear -- make a choice with what you are most comfortable with." So she made a choice - she shook hands with the 85 years old British Monarch rather than showing courtesy. The act of Welsh-born Gillard, who favours Australia becoming a republic, has sparked controversy on television, radio and social media, although she has not violated any protocol norms as both shaking hands and courtesy are allowed.
