Any idea what would happen if an asteroid strikes the earth? Well films like the Deep Impact and Armageddon amply highlighted the gravity of the threat enormity of the devastation if an asteroid falls on the earth. The asteroid that hit Russia in 1908 destroyed some 80 million trees and effected an area of more than 2,100 square kilometers. The threat is far more graver than seen in these films. There are close to 20,000 medium sized and around 1,000  large sized asteroids threatening earth. orbiting at a distance of a 120 million miles.
