US wants Pakistan to squeeze militants harder

Clinton addresses a joint press conference with Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar in Islamabad on October 21

In a joint press conference in Islamabad, Pakistan Friday, the visiting US Secretary of State urged Pakistan squeeze the militants harder than before for a durable peace in the region. Ms Clinton said, “You can’t keep snakes in your back yard and expect them to only bite your neighbours.” The reference was clearly towards the Haqqani network which US thinks is behind the unrest in Afghanistan.
