Hayden undergoes surgery to fix broken scaphoid

BSN reports that Marlboro Ducati's Nicky Hayden underwent surgery Monday to put a screw in the scaphoid he broke in the first-corner crash at Valencia last weekend but the right radius bone has been left untreated so far.

After the surgery, Hayden told press:

“Everything went pretty smoothly. The scaphoid is a slow-healing bone, so you don’t want to wait, only to find out in January that it’s not healing correctly. I’m happy to get it fixed right so that I’ll be ready to go when I need to be,"
