November 5: "Destroy Facebook Day"

Full Story: PC Magazine

PC Magazine posted a story on 9 august 2011 that there has been a call by Anonymous to destroy Facebook on November 5. Or more accurately, somebody has set up a Twitter account and YouTube channel to announce a plan dubbed "Operation Facebook," as added by the Magazine.

With the loosely affiliated hacktivist collective, it's always tough to know what's real, what's a feint, and what's a solo effort by some ambitious Anon to marshal the troops.
The magazine quoted the Anonymous vowing:
Facebook keeps saying that it gives users choices, but that is completely false. It gives users the illusion of and hides the details away from them "for their own good" while they then make millions off of you. When a service is "free," it really means they're making money off of you and your information. Think for a while and prepare for a day that will go down in history. November 5 2011, #opfacebook . Engaged.

Today is 5 November - like all other previous attempts it may also turn out to be a bogey call. But the day may be difficult to pass.
