While everyone looked towards watching an important match of the Miami Masters Friday night, Nadal, the hot favourite pulled out of the match three hours before because of his knee injury that has been bothering him since long.
“I am not ready to compete,”’ Nadal explained at a mid-day press conference, shaking his head and grimacing. “I am very sorry for the fans. I’m very sorry for the tournament. I’m for sorry for everybody who was ready to watch the match on television. But I cannot go on court and lie to everybody.”
Murray advances to Sunday’s final against the winner of Friday’s night match between top-ranked Novak Djokovic and Juan Monaco. The Scot will surely be well-rested, as his third-round opponent, Milos Raonic, also withdrew before their match. Nadal texted Murray with the news Friday morning.
