Manchester airport to ditch controversial 'naked' scanners

The much controversial naked scanners that have drawn criticism from passengers as these infringe upon passengers' privacy, will be removed from Manchester airport shortly as  the European Commission has not approved them for permanent use.

Manchester airport will ditch these scanners when a trial of their use comes to an end next month.


The machines will be replaced by five next generation ‘privacy-friendly’ scanners because the European Commission has not approved them for permanent use.

Critics said the machines, which display graphic x-ray style images, invaded passenger privacy.
