New Zealand and Sri Lanka kick off 11th ICC World Cup Cricket from today

The cricket fans all over the world would be glued to their TVs from today onward as the 11th ICC Cricket World Cup gets going with opening match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka at Christchurch, NZ at 22:00 GMT (Group A).

The second Group A match between Australia and England will be played at Melbourne at 3:30 GMT.

Of all the matches, the India-Pakistan game could be the most-watched match in the event's history, said tournament chief executive John Harnden. "The match sold out in 20 minutes, and when we put some further tickets on sale in November, they were literally gone in seconds," he said.

It may be added that a  total of 14 teams are competing in 49 matches, of 50 overs a side, across 14 venues, followed by an estimated global audience of more than one billion people.
