The dog meat is openly sold and eaten in some of the South East Asian countries like Vietnam and Thailand. In Vietnam, there is a growing trend to steal dogs by groups of dog-nappers and sell these to local restaurants at rates as low as about $2.70 a pound ($6 a kilogram). However, the dog owners have waged a war with these dog-nappers, chase them and even club the thieves to death. But the thieves are equally ready - they throw bricks and even use arrows to ward off chasing crowds, that have also inflicted fatal casualties on the chasers. The war between the Dog-Nappers and the Dog-Owners continues.
