At the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, outside London opens an art exhibition that displays artwork of four Turner shortlisted artists. This is the first time that such an exhibition is opened beyond the Tate family of galleries. The shortlisted artists are Shaw, Karla Black, Martin Boyce and Hilary Lloyd – respectively a painter, a sculptor, an installation artist and a video artist. The Same Old Crap is by George Shaw, the shortlist's sole painter. The winner, who will receive £25,000, will be announced at a ceremony at Baltic on 5 December.
