Berlusconi finally resigns "officially"

Berlusconi, 75, finally resigned officially Saturday after ruling Italy for 17 years. The departure of Italy's longest serving prime minister may ease Italy's misgivings and financial crisis it has been engrossed into lately.

After handing in his resignation, Berlusconi left the Quirinale Palace by a side entrance as thousands of demonstrators chanted "Clown! Clown!" the insult traditionally hurled at disgraced Italian politicians, Yahoo News reports.
