Saturday rains today to cause more misery to Britain

Britain which is in the grip of unprecedented bad weather that comes with winds and gusts over 80mph, snow and rains that have caused widespread floods, is set to face more rains on Saturday - and days beyond.

Huge waves and winds of up to 80mph battered the south coast last night with several inches of snow falling on high ground in the north.

Weather warnings cover large swathes of Britain with heavy rain, high winds and snow hitting South and West. While 17,000 homes are left without power, more properties set to be flooded in the next 36 hours as the rivers are swelling to their dangerous limits.

Already, the British army has deployed more than 2,200 troops - including Princes William and Harry- with another 3,000 on standby.
Warning the already flood weary people about the Saturday rains, spokesman Toby Willison said:
'The rainfall that we will see today will bring river levels back up on the Thames and we expect levels on slow-responding rivers like the Thames and the Severn to stay high for a number of days. This remains a very live event. I expect we will see further property flooding.’
