England mauled by Pakistan in first ODI

It was a bad  day for England playing its first ODI against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi last night.

Playing first England scored 216 in 49.4 overs with the help of Morgan's 76. England suffered three quick losses at the start of the play for just 14 runs.





Coming to bat, Pakistan were reduced to 41-3 by Reece Topley's three wickets. But its was Pakistan's Hafeez who played marvelously and scored unbeaten 102 with 10 fours and one six in his 130-ball innings.  He shared stands of 70 with Malik and an unbroken 106 with Azam, who brought up his half-century with a straight six off Woakes.

Pakistan won by six wickets in 43.4 overs.

England Scraps Pakistan in the first ODI at Abu Dhabi

While everyone speculated and predicted a repeat performance by Pakistan cricket team, after a 3-0 win the test matches, England bounced back and scrapped Pakistan top order batsmen in the first few overs of the first ODI between the two teams played at Abu Dhabi today, Monday.

While Pakistani spinner still did a good job for dismissing seven Englishmen (Saedd Ajmal 5, Afridi 2), it was Steve Finn of England who dismissed four Pakistani top order batsmen in his first five overs. None of the batsmen from Pakistan could go beyond 30. It was only Aridi who managed 28.

England's Cook (137) and Bopara (50) who added 187 in England's totoal of 260 were the most successful batsmen. Other than them, no English batsman could however add meaningful score to England overall score.

So Congratulations Englnad for the first victory - let us focus now on the second ODI that starts on Wednesday.

Pakistan vs England: First ODI at Abu Dhabi 13 Feb

The first ODI between Pakistan and England is being played at Abu Dhabi Monday, today 13 February 2012. The match commence 1100 GMT.


Pakistan has had a tremendous morale boosting ascendancy over England after an enormous 3-0 win the est series. Pakistan has a spinner heavy bowling side with the coming back of Shahid Afridi who will join Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman in today's ODI.

While England will play the match being under tremendous pressure from fans back home.

Saeed Ajmal tops Top Wicket Takers in 2011

Pakistan's off-spinner Saeed Ajmal claimed nine wickets in the two Tests to round off his year with 50 wickets from eight matches. He is the highest wicket-taker in 2011 so far, with India’s Ishant Sharma placed second with 41 wickets from 11 matches.

Earlier, Ajmal has moved to the number one slot in the new One Day International (ODI) bowler rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Ajmal is ranked eighth in the ICC Test bowlers’ rankings.
