John Davies 50, has been held on suspicion of murdering his bride Colette, 39. The couple had gone to a remote Indian Himachal Pradesh region seven years ago when the bride "accidently" fell down 80ft from a viewing point and her body was found a week later at the bottom of the Giri River.
At that time the local Indian police and a British coroner ruled out any foul play and attributed the death to accident.
However, Mrs Davies’s family were convinced she died in suspicious circumstances and persuaded their own local police to investigate. And after flying to India to visit the scene and interview witnesses, officers yesterday arrested John Davies.
